It's a motel, and I didn't expect much. For $90 a night though, a microfridge would have been nice - otherwise, add on $50ish for eating dinner and breakfast out on the town. Now it's an EXPENSIVE motel with no amenities, a shower that didn't have a place for your wet washcloths, and the most uncomortable I've slept on in a good long time. I very nearly went to the car to get my sleeping bag and sleep pad, as that is more comfortable, but the motel's heat didn't work well and it was too cold to venture out from the covers. Sleeping on my side, the springs dug into my hip, and my opposite side had awful muscle pain since the bed was so unsupportive. The ONLY thing a motel should be required to do is give you an opportunity at a good night's sleep, which this failed completely at. One of the younger employees at the desk was very nice and extremely helpful, but my girlfriend was creeped out by an older guy when she went to return something to the desk. This might be the cheapest place in West Yellowstone, but it is not a good deal. Steer clear unless you are short on cash and...
Read moreFirst, to give the Golden West Motel credit, the hanging flower planters outside each door, were alive, full and beautiful. The room was so small, the Queen bed almost filled its entirety but squeezed in, was a closet, a table w/2chairs, and a shower/bathtub with the sink & mirror, outside of it. The basic necessities. We were quite tired that day, after a long (road trip) drive, and all we really needed, was a place to sleep for the night at a semi-reasonable price. And we found it. We checked in, dropped our bags inside our designated room, and headed for a bite to eat. When we headed back to the Motel, we couldn't find it!! We drove around and around West Yellowstone, looking for it. The streets, we discovered, were darker in some areas and after a frustrating 20 minutes or so (it's not that big of a place...whew!), we finally found it, tucked back in the dark, on one of them! The Motel had TURNED OFF it's Sign!!! (hahaha) Never seen...
Read moreHi all, stopped at this place a couple of years ago and just wanted to say that nothing has changed, this is still a very nice welcoming place and seems to be kept to very high standards for a motel.||The location is perfect for exploring Yellowstone and when you come back and check in you have a nice room that was nice and clean with clean sheets and towels, I suppose the only down side is the rooms do not have air conditioning but then it was only 52 degrees in the afternoon at the end of June - made a difference from the 114 degrees we had in Vegas 2 days earlier. ||The lady made us welcome even though we had problems with our credit card again and in the end we paid on another one never once did she make us feel unwanted and did her best to help us with useful information as to where we could ring back to the UK to sort our problem out.||I would recomend this property to anyone stopping in West...
