Yellowstone Lodge|Basic motel accommodations in West Yellowstone. The overall experience was a mixed bag. On the positive side the hotel is in a very quiet area 5-6 blocks away from the hustle of the main tourist haunts of shops and restaurants and bars. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. The room was the usual size with two queen beds. Oddly there were two sinks- one in the room and one in the bathroom. This arrangement could make getting ready in the morning easier. They provided two luggage racks which is unusual in our experience and appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the climate unit on the wall was quiet and powerful. The shower head was a bit low for a 6 footer but water pressure was excellent. On the negative side it’s clear this is an aging building. The wall mounted hair dryer in the room was pretty feeble. There were no overhead lights so the room was a bit dim with the provided lamps. There were no USB ports and a limited number of plugs, one of which was loose in the wall and wouldn’t work consistently. There were stains on the carpeting in the halls (but not in our room). The tiles in the shower were chipped and the mirrors were losing their silvering around the edges. The light box over the sink was missing one of the lenses covering the light bulbs. The room was clean but smelled musty. Breakfast was the standard continental buffet with breads, prepackaged pastries, some cereals, hard boiled eggs, juices and coffee. They were supposed to have a selection of yoghurts but were out. They do have an indoor swimming pool. There is no business office to utilize a computer or printer. West Yellowstone is an expensive hotel market - if you want your basic needs covered and don’t mind the concerns we’ve mentioned then this hotel will suit you. If not be prepared to pay much more. This area is in a great location to access the park- the west gate is literally a few...
Read moreWe chose this place after our initial stay at another local hotel did not pan out due to room locations. We found this hotel had a large 2-room suite, which allowed us to be together, yet have space. Although it is a 2-room suite there is only one bathroom, plus a sink area near the entry door. The place was very clean, yet it could not hide that it is old. The bathroom was in great need of updating, having several broken floor tiles and worn areas in the tub that look like they had been scrubbed clean down to the metal of the tub. It did appear to have had new carpeting installed but the beds and the room in general showed its age. The beds were fine, not great, but not horrible either. The hotel staff was not friendly, ever. Each time there was a new person at the desk, or even someone we had already greeted, they did not acknowledge or greet us until we greeted them first. The maid staff however was kind, helpful and very friendly. The room was not particularly noisy, but there seemed to be little to no insulation between us and the room above ours. We came to believe that the guests above us were a family of elephants. They stomped as they walked back and forth in their room, being so loud that it woke us up every morning we were there, as early as 6:30am, and making stomping noises as late a 11:00pm. At times it felt like our walls were shaking with their hard pounding. So if you absolutely need to stay here, try to get the top floor. The breakfast, which I had read was "great", was just coffee, juice, muffins and cereal. We saw nothing offered that was freshly cooked like eggs or grits. While we were there, there was still snow on the ground, so you definitely want to start your day with something more than coffee and a muffin. Luckily there are wonderful breakfast...
Read moreWe stayed here on our first part of a two week trip. We booked the family suite. Upon arrival we were told it wasn’t an available but they had put us in an adjoining room for the inconvenience for the same price. I was double charged. They told me I had to wait for the manager to come in on Monday to fix or email her. They did correct the problem the next day but I had a hold on my account for the double charge for 5 days. Two children came to the front to tell them their toilet was clogged and their dad asked to switch rooms. They said no they couldn’t but could give them a plunger. The person behind the desk proceeded to give these children a plunger with a bag over it so they could take it back for their dad to fix himself. Even these 8-9 year old children knew this wasn’t how you handle an issue like this. When we entered our two rooms the one room had luggage in it. They assigned the room to us but have someone else the room key and told them they were in that room but booked them in the one next to it. It was corrected but just another issue to handle. The hotel needs serious updating especially the bathrooms. The tile was cracked on the floor and the tub has several cracks. Beds were pretty comfortable but bedding was old and the one room had a very noisy exhaust fan. I asked about it and they said they are all like that. Didn’t go near the pool and laundry facilities were in the basement which was a bit creepy. The breakfast was your standard continental and not horrible. I would not recommend this hotel for various reasons. If possible, pay extra and stay at the cottages across the street. They appear to be clean and have outdoor space. This hotel had non which with the beautiful Montana nights would’ve been...
