**** INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE **** Please save yourselves the money and disrespect as a valued customer. We traveled from Houston for the week and decided to book a 2-night stay at Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone. Upon check-in, the service was wretched with Kaitlyn, being completely joyless, lacking warmth or any sign of being welcoming, and very much snarky in interacting with her. We checked into our cabin, Cabin #3 at Washburn Camp, and that night… my 2 and 5 year olds were playing in the cabin and came to me with: a dirty sock left behind from their cleaning service, a used ear plug, and a beer bottle cap — ABSOLUTELY GROTESQUE. I immediately called the front office and asked to speak to the manager. Kaitlyn responded with a, “management has gone home for the day…” while I proceeded to explain to her my disappointment in the cleanliness of the cabin upon our arrival. She quickly turned the switch and put me on the phone with Cody, manager. He was apologetic and assured me he would send over cleaning in the morning while we went to the park for the day, which we did… and upon arriving back at the hotel around 6 pm —> we walk into the cabin, and it was just as we left it — in need of vacuuming, the beds not made (assuming they would come clean for us), no fresh towels, and crumbs still left on our coffee table from the kids eating breakfast in the living room, and worst… both trash cans full of trash from our stay with littles. I called the front office and requested for the manager again, and they put me on the phone with Cody, supervisor. He was completely useless and indifferent to me explaining to him the absolute disappointment with their lack of customer service and cleanliness. The only thing he offered was a fresh pair of towels!!! For the amount of money spent on this stay, I would stay in Bozeman, an absolute gem, if not… somewhere else! The lack of customer service at Explorer Cabins is UNBELIEVABLY APPALLING!!! Completely unprofessional and undeserving of business with the lack of attention these particular individuals offered during our stay. The bathroom toilet smelled of urine, the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain, there was mold all over the restroom shower, and the bedrooms weren’t properly vacuumed. I am not one to write such horrible reviews unless necessary, and I am sharing this with other customers because we are absolutely disappointed at this moment.

One of the most frustrating experiences. Each group of the cabins has a parking lot with a parking space for each cabin. However, these parking spots are not assigned. This was a very large issue for our stay due to the fact that every spot was occupied and I was told to park a quarter mile away by the staff. Once one of the visitors of a neighboring cabin had left, I had to sprint at a 4:00 minute mile pace to my car to relocate to the proper parking spot. Keep in mind that I nearly lost the spot to another vehicle despite my efforts and patience. To go a long with all of the parking issues, our sink was clogged from the moment we stepped in. The drain is filled with a mixture of hair and sludge, which results in a minute or so to drain fully. Overall, this compromised the experience of the stay and should have had marked parking spaces or parking passes of some sort. The location was great and felt like we had some degree of privacy. However, I would likely not recommend it due to the inconvenient parking situation and a clogged sink.

We stayed in one of the 2BR cabins. These "cabins" are not truly cabins, they are more like prefab mobile homes made to look like cabins. So they have the entry at one end, with the living and dining room, then a hallway to the smaller bedroom on the right, then the bathroom, then the larger bedroom at the end. They are thoughtfully decorated with a Yellowstone theme. The dining area lacks a dining table and chairs--instead, you eat sitting on the couch using a 1960s TV tray. There are about 60 cabins in three clusters along Grizzly Avenue. You have to check in at the Gray Wolf Inn next door. You can use the pool and free laundry there, but the breakfast there is not included. Housekeeping was spotty at best. We requested it three times during our 9 day stay and one of those times they skipped us entirely. The location is within walking distance of downtown and within a mile of the entrance to Yellowstone.

Mess of a stay! We booked in advance at a rate of $545 but when we arrived - 'cabin' rates were as low as $300 per night. We spoke to the front desk clerk and were told they would adjust. THEY HAVE NOT. I'm on my fifth call to the management (Craig & Cinden) without return calls. The front desk staff recognizes my voice. I'm ready to refute the charge on my credit card instead. The direct number for the location is always uber busy - which is an indication they have the phone off the hook.

Upon arrival, we attempted to connect to WiFi - and it wasn't working. They have a direct line on the room phones for WiFi assistance. The individual that answered indicated they don't provide support for the Explorer Cabins any longer.

We anticipated a cabin based on the description - but no, we shared a wall with a family that had littles, and unfortunately they had trouble sleeping, so as a result, so did we. The thin walls didn't allow any sleep for anyone. The pictures of the cabin online also show a fireplace inside the unit, however, it's misleading and inaccurate.

For a location with a kitchenette, you would think there would be a table, or at a minimum chairs. Nope! One arm chair, and TV Trays to fold out and eat off. The bathroom door squeaked and didn't open far enough for a wheelchair, and there were no grab bars in the bathroom, or shower for safety.

Thankfully Yellowstone didn't disappoint, but Explorer Cabins barely deserve the one star provided. My recommendation would be to avoid this location for multiple reasons including those...

This cabin was absolutely perfect. We were a party of 6, 4 adults, 2 children. We got the two bedroom, one per couple and the girls slept on the pullout in the living room. It was a nice size cabin overall, the rooms were fairly roomy, not compacted at all. The living room and kitchen of course were a bit small once the bed was pulled out due to the wood carved end table, that was really nice. But that's understandable as it is all in the same room. The cabin came equipped with an electric stove, dishes, pans, soap to wash dishes or pods for the dishwasher, a fridge, 4 coffee mugs, paper towels, toilet paper, and an abundance of fresh towels and large fire place. Cabins also come with a porch area and two seats along with a little table. Very nice touch. Their were to access doors so convineint if you parked in the back or towards the front. Linen was all clean, beds super comfy. They forgot to leave the linen for the sofa bed but brought it out within 15-30 mins of the call. The kids were each left a smore kit and fire pits were within a reasonable distance (each a cabin down, one to the left and one to the right). Security circled throughout our evening. The cabins are literally not even 5 mins outside the west entrance. The town has everything easily within a 10-15 mile radius. I would definitely stay here again, loved everything about it. And as for price, well all of the up to date (including some of the more outdated places) are within the same price range so I say worth...
