I've been coming to the shore periodically since I was 13. I'm now 35. Every time I've gone I've stopped at the Olympic Flame because they had the best Pizza in the state. hands down best pizza I've had in my life. Well, I moved out west and haven't been to the shore in 10 years. Came back, decided to take a trip down to the shore and was looking forward to this god tier pizza I haven't had in years....except...it's not god tier anymore. I don't know what the they did to the pizza in the last 10 years but they ought to be ashamed. And realistically the crust is the problem. The sauce, cheese, toppings are all fine. They are fresh, taste great. But that damn crust. My wife and I got done eating the pizza and both thought that the crust tasted and looked like a premium frozen pizza. Like a Digiorno or even like Pizza Hut's Pan pizza crust. It doesn't look or taste like fresh hand tossed crust. The pizza wasn't bad by any means but it was a shell of its former self and I could have bought a Tombstone or Digiorno and spruced it up for half the price.
That being said we also ordered a Greek Salad which looked really pretty and tasted pretty good too. Service was great. Their credit card machine was down (I'm assuming because of the world wide tech outage that happened that day) and they were offering to cover the ATM fees for people wanting to pay card, which was really...
Read moreOlympic Flame is one of my favorite restaurants in the Wildwood area, and is my number one favorite on the boardwalk. Their food is amazing; I've tried their pancakes, pizza, cheesesteak, and caesar salad (the lettuce is a nice dark green, not the white or barely green iceberg lettuce you might expect from the boardwalk); you truly can't go wrong. In my opinion, Olympic has the best pizza on the boardwalk, and their pancakes are very high on my list of the best in the area. Additionally, the staff there are wonderful. It's such a homey atmosphere, and if you're looking for a place with great vibes to hang out with friends or family, this should be your go-to. Finally, while most of the seating is technically indoors, the front of the restaurant is fully open so you can still experience the action on the boardwalk and the breezy weather while you're enjoying your meal. I would highly recommend eating at Olympic Flame for any...
Read moreThought I would try an upscale dish (since they were offering it) to see how a Boardwalk Restauranteur would perform. I ordered the Shrimp Pasta with Marinara. Needless to say, I was "Stunned"! This is a favorite dish of mine and I usually reserve ordering it to finer esoteric Bistros and Trattorias I frequent. Yes, I dare say it, BOLDLY that the Chef @ Olympic Flame not only went "toe to toe" with the finer eateries I am familiar with, but actually bettered the lot of 'em!! After this most satisfying experience, I was desperate to meet the Chef behind this most Perfect Pasta dish. The waitstaff directed me to the Chef, who was extremely appreciative when I explained the aforementioned to him. Anyone out there visiting the Jersey Shore and wants to have a truly "Unique" dining experience, I strongly recommend ordering the Shrimp Pasta (or any Pasta Course) @ "The" Olympic Flame Restaurant. You Will Not Be...
