I will start this by stating two things that I never do- I never write reviews and I never stay at the Jersey Shore. I'm a Jersey girl born and raised but will drive the 1.5 hr + home because I find shore town hotels abhorrent. I only ventured to wildwood for the weekend because my daughter is a girl scout and its beach jam (I didn't have time to buy a tent and realistically I want access to my own shower, toilet and electrical outlets) so for her I sacrificed my desired comforts. I honestly cant get over how pleased I am with this hotel. It's reminiscent of the Element by Westin hotels in that the look is new, modern/trendy and feels like your own little apartment also the location is great being steps from the beach and in a quiet, clean safe area. My go to hotel chains are the St Regis, Ritz Carlton and 4 seasons so trust me when I say this place definitely went above my expectations of a seaside hotel and I actually wouldn't mind coming back to wildwood on my own accord (and probably will) just because I know I have this hotel which I am also told will open its suites soon as well. I can't tell you about the breakfast because I checked in tonight but I'm thrilled with everything else: the ease of booking and check in, the property and location, the room layout and decor, the amount of electrical outlets and USB charge ports (which to me showed attention to the smallest of guest conveniences) along with the reading lights attached to the bedside lights, the massive amount of xfinity HD and sports channels, literally EVERYTHING so far is great. Also worth nothing is that the 2 members of staff that I had contact with, the manager when I booked and another employee when I checked in, were so personable and accommodating that it was an actual pleasure doing business with them. I'd 100% recommended this hotel to anyone traveling to Wildwood in fact thus far it is the only hotel Id recommend. I shant write another review any time soon, I only did this one because upon searching for reviews and finding virtually none I was afraid of what I was walking into and almost didnt book it do so this is my small...
Read moreThe Waves Hotel was surprisingly average for the price (and I don’t mean a good average). I came here during the off season for 2 days (late October) and wasn’t too sure what to expect. The pictures online made this place look great, as one would always expect, but as soon as I walked inside the lobby I was a little concerned. The place wasn’t in disrepair by any means, but it was a bit under taken care of. Just not clean. Cobwebs were everywhere and small things were broken. When I got to my room, everything seemed fine for the most part until I started to actually look around and listen. The other reviews that talk about the walls being paper thin, fortunately are incorrect. However, the unfortunate part is that they are actually nonexistent. I didn’t have anyone next to me thankfully, but I sure did know when room-keeping was in the room next to me as I could hear their conversation like they were right next to me. The bathroom was probably the most sketchy of the entire room. I think the pictures say it all. The two that look like there are hairs on the shower floor? I wish they were just hairs. Unfortunately, they’re cracks. About half of the floor underneath felt as though it was giving way and at any point in time I was going to fall through the floor and end up in the parking area underneath me. That has arguably been the most unsafe I have ever actually felt in a hotel, and I’ve been in some not so great neighborhoods before. I was also happy that I felt safe here as the entryway door I used that was supposed to require my room badge to open also never actually stayed closed. Oh yes, and I hope you like flies. I think I can add fly killer to my resume now because I killed no less than 20 in my two day stay here as they were EVERYWHERE. Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. The place was cheap, like $100 a night cheap. But, I figured that was just because I was coming in the off season and they were trying to get people in the door. Unfortunately, even if they did lower the price, I feel bad for people paying full price to stay here. I guess you really do get what you pay for, and for me, it...
Read moreHere is my in depth honest review of the waves. We recently just stayed here from Wednesday until this morning actually. Check in was easy and the workers were very helpful. As soon as they said they take your car keys because of valet parking I was like wait what? So turns out they don’t have enough parking for the cars/room ratio. So, they have parking spots where it can fit 4 cars in one row. So when you check in be prepared to give them your car key after you unpack because they keep it there. If your car has someone parked in or you are parking in cars that need to leave, they will take your key and move your car for you. Was not a fan of this at all, but luckily we got a front single spot for most of the trip. We stayed in a double room. First walked in it was very cold (which I was very happy about) and it was a lot smaller then the pictures made it look. Room is good for 2-4 people but anymore then that it would have definitely been a tight squeeze for changing and moving around. Besides that the room and bathroom were very clean and smelled good. The beds were really comfortable, the tv was a good size and I have never had hotel Wi-Fi work so good before! Nothing lagged. Now beware…the elevator shakes every time it stops. Not like a little shake no big deal….no. The elevator shakes like you think it’s going to keep you trapped. I got used to it by the end of the trip but at first I was scared lol. Only actual issue we had with the room was our door wouldn’t lock. We had to wait 10 minutes for the maintenance guy to come and he fixed it. We didn’t mind waiting I was actually surprised he came that fast considering he was at another building! The front desk staff is very nice and helpful. I had no complaints there! All and all, we would definitely stay here again and Recommend this place to others. As long as you are comfortable with handing over your keys for the parking then you should be good to go. That was our biggest thing. (Also we did not eat the complimentary breakfast at all so I cannot make any...
