This was the worst customer experience I have EVER had. My friends and I were in Wildwood for a beach soccer tournament this previous weekend. We purchased four rooms at the Twlight motel. The moment we arrived I knew the stay was going to be interesting. First, there "appeared" to be very limited parking, which was annoying and inconvenient. My boyfriend and I stayed positive though and searched for street parking elsewhere. A couple of my friends had arrived a few hours before me and had already checked in. Immediately they warned me about the psycho motel owner. The motel owner constantly goes on random rants, and when she is not ranting she is yelling at her staff, a beach patron, or a motel guest. The owner made us all uncomfortable during our stay.We constantly were trying to avoid her.
The worst part of the stay came during check out. As I said before, there "appeared" to be very limited parking at the motel. After packing up all our belongings (while the motel owner was hovering over and ranting about who knows what to the group), my boyfriend asked the owner if he could park in an open motel parking spot for an hour while he played his last game. We were running late to the game. We had not parked at all in the motel parking lot the whole weekend. Since we had given her good business, and had not used her lot once, we hoped she would understand and let us shortly park there.
At first, the owner said yes, but then asked where we had been previously parking. My boyfriend told her that we had been street parking further away from the motel. As soon, as my boyfriend told her that all hell broke loose. The owner started yelling at us, saying that we had entitlement issues, and that we were lazy. We decided to just walk away from her, but that was no use. The crazy motel owner followed us, yelling at us, and getting up in our faces! The owner claimed that she had done us a courtesy by allowing us to stay in her parking lot. Despite the MANY attempts to tell her that all of us had been street parking the whole weekend, she would not listen. Once my boyfriend and I finally got away from her, she went on to yelling at our other friends who were still packing up.
Come to find out (not through the owner), the motel has another parking lot not far down the road from the motel. The parking lot is titled with a very worn out sign, so it is hard to see, especially at night. Not ONCE did the owner let us now about this other parking lot - which you would think would be an obvious thing to let your guests know...
Despite purchasing four hotel rooms for the weekend from this lady, there was no sense of customer service, there was just craziness, and drama. If you stay here you will spend the majority of your weekend wondering and debating what drugs the owner is on, as well as avoiding her crazy ass. Me and the 17 other people that stayed at her motel will not ever give her business again, and will let everyone we know to NEVER stay in her motel. I recommend that Kathleen takes some businesses courses, in particular some customer service classes. I would never have taken the time to write this extensive review if she would have just simply said "no, I am sorry but I have to save the motel parking spots for guests checking in." - instead she yelled and got up in my face - a...
Read moreWell when we arrived greeted by Kathy, who asked if we needed towels because their were none in the room. Your not allowed to have anything in the pool floaties or toys. Family came down to go to dinner with us, my sister who was parked down stair got keys locked in her car, so we had to wait for officer to pop the door open mind you it was still over 80 degrees out and we had 6 little ones with us. The officer said it would be atleast an hr before they would come. Since we werent far from my room i told the kids to come sit in the room. Then more of my family showed up to go to dinner and i was still getting ready n had them come up to room. As we all started to head out to meet with the officer to unlock car kathy the owner comes out and starts asking everyone who they were here for as they start saying my name she asked where i was as i approached her she started getting smart and talking with her hands. About how its not okay to have anyone in my room unless they paid to be there i repeatedly told her they were waiting for me to go to dinner and didnt even bother to explain that i wasnt about to have kids standing out in the heat. She told me because i had people over others are going to think its okay to have guest. Really she tried to embarrass me in front of my family. As i walked away she atarted yelling at other people who were staying on the 2nd floor a out if they didnt pay to be there they needed to leave or she would keep their deposit. I would never stay there again their was no reason for her to yell at me or anyone else as if we were children. She was so rude and made it very uncomfortable with her ignorance Manager was horrible Small parking lot Room was small for a room with king bed and kitchen not much room to get around No chair Nothing was plugged in Shower had hair in it
Response from the owner 8 hours ago It’s even harder to get around in ur room when u have 12 additional people in a 13 X 15 ft room. Why not have them sit on the sun deck why not tell me u got locked out of the car and would it be ok to have ur entire family wait in ur room and no u cannot use small objects in the pool they get trapped in the pool filter and the other guest also had a parade of people up in his room. It’s a small motel and I have to be able to make every guest comfortable and I will always ask about additional people on the property and there are fire codes to abide by. If I never said anything then u wouldn’t have wrote a bad review. So let me get this straight u invite 12 people up to ur tiny room and I am wrong for saying anything???
You stated they werent allowed on properyy period because they didnt pay. You didnt even give anyone an opportunity to explain anything and its not the fact you said something its the fact that you got smart and talk with your hands. Just like the smartness in your response. You could have pulled me aside and spoke with me instead of broadcasting to everyone. It was hot outside and like i side i wasnt making them sit outside in the heat when most of them...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived I had doubts about staying. The “office” to check in isn’t even an office. It’s an extremely small space with a door to ring a bell. I had to ring the bell twice and waited for over 5 mins until someone came out. The check in process was quick. Just had to sign for the charges. I noticed a sign “no refunds” and should have known then. I think if you have to post that sign, you have to expect that previous customers must have asked for a refund. Suspicious. There are only about 5 parking spaces at the motel. Everyone else has to drive a block away on the other side of the road. Definitely not ideal when checking in or out. I expected the room to be small which was fine. Going up to our room, the whole area smelled like smoke. I personally didn’t appreciate that. The door was unlocked when we arrived. I have concerns that anyone could have entered after the room was cleaned or whatever. The door had a large gap at the top and wasn’t sealed at all. The door only has a door knob lock and a latch. Didn’t really feel safe. The bed spreads were dirty and one had a couple of holes in it. There were quite a few ants crawling around. The kitchenette are was rusted in a few areas. The coffee pot was disgusting. The bathroom was small but it looked recently updated. Seemed clean for the most part. There was no TV remote. We decided not to stay after returning to the room that night. Overall my expectations are low for a motel in Wildwood, but this was unacceptable even for low expectations.
The woman I checked in with was sitting outside when we left. We told her we were going to leave and wanted to give her the key. She proceeded to ask us questions about leaving. We explained to her the conditions of the room and that we didn’t feel comfortable staying. She was very defensive telling us things aren’t as we saw them. After arguing that there was nothing wrong with the bedding she said that the bedding could be changed and it’s humid so there will be ants. She was arguing about the door being fine. I didn’t take a picture when it was light outside to truly show the gap. She then told us you know there’s no refunds. To be clear, we never asked for a refund. We just wanted to leave and she questioned us and then got defensive. Do not recommend staying here!
Edited after response from owner: maybe our expectations were too high. Like I said, very defensive. And I have pictures to back up my claims. We checked in after 3 and took showers. We then left for the boardwalk and came back and left. We didn’t feel comfortable staying. We didn’t have any food in the room. We were in the room for maybe 5 minutes before we saw ants and we didn’t leave any trash. Some things can’t be fixed in the moment if you aren’t comfortable. And certainly the door couldn’t be fixed. I sleep at night just fine being honest with my review. If you can sleep at night knowing customers weren’t satisfied and replying g here, then...
