Not as expected - I was underwhelmed by my stay here. Would not recommend unless you are literally staying one night. There’s a difference between cheap and dirty. The property does not look as fresh as the pictures on the website, and feels run down. I stayed in a private room that turned out to have no windows - there was a curtain but it looks out onto an interior window into the corridor. Glass pane inside the door let in light from the corridor all night. Room was absolutely tiny, although bed was comfortable. Breakfast was stale cereal and soggy plain white bread. Fine for free, but very mediocre overall. On the 2nd floor, the showers and toilets are literally just in the corridor, right by where you get out of the elevator. At one point I had a choice between one toilet with a broken lock and another that had bugs crawling on the seat, and at another point there was a bug in the shower along with a dark clump of hair. The staff didn’t really seem to be too bothered and were casual with general tidying of the place. I dropped off some laundry and paid, but when I went to pick it up, got asked to pay again - I could sense the member of staff was trying it on because of how easily they backed down when I said I’d already paid. When I initially asked about an airport transfer the lady behind the desk said ‘350k oh no wait sorry it’s early in the morning so it’s 450k’. I felt this was a scam and later asked to book with a different member of staff who made the booking at 350k, proving me right. That said, the staff were able to organise me an airport transfer at the last minute (when my plan fell through) which I appreciated The location is very good for accessing the old quarter and is easily accessible via bus...
Read moreDO NOT STAY AS FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLER (I want to make sure it’s clear than the main reason i am rating low was completely out of the hostel’s control) -first night someone, assuming cleaner, took all my things out of my bag and put it in random lockers without my permission but left my empty bag on the floor where it was originally -room often smelled like smoke, so strong i thought someone was smoking in the room at first -room was cold -beds and room very clean but pillow so lumpy, so lumpy to the point I’m actually leaving a review about a pillow ffs! people at front desk not bothered about doing their job bathrooms were cleaned once a day around 11am so were never clean at the times when most people use them (night and morning) MAIN REASON, the customers this hostel attracts are men in their 30s/40s, in two days i had one man try to touch me, ask for my social media, asked me why when i said no, harassed me to talk to him saying he knew me from somewhere (he did not) and another man ask my name, where I’m from and then sat on his bed staring and smiling at me while i packed my things, there was a group of men in a private room who made me feel uncomfortable using the shared bathroom and would leave the bathroom in a disgusting mess, i felt so unsafe and uncomfortable at this hostel that i left and moved to a different one even though i had a bed booked and this hostel doesn’t offer female dorms, not that it would make a difference, the first man was openly harassing me in the common area, again, not hostels fault but seems to attract a horrible...
Read moreI had a great stay at Re Hostel during my trip. The location is very convenient—just a 7-minute walk from the (Bus Route 86) stop, making airport transfers easy. It’s also only a short 6-minute walk to the Old Quarter center and 4 minutes to Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, placing it near major attractions. Despite being in a busy area, the hostel is tucked away in a small motorcycle-only alley, which keeps it quieter than other places in Hanoi.
There are plenty of food options nearby, making it easy to find local dishes at any time. The staff speaks English well, which made communication smooth. My room was clean and well-maintained, offering good value for the price I paid through Agoda. The shared bathroom was also kept clean throughout my stay.
Overall, I had a comfortable experience at Re Hostel. The combination of a prime location, friendly staff, and a quiet atmosphere made it a great choice. I will definitely stay here again on my next...
