Unfortunately this was not fun at all for us. Maybe we had very high expectations since it was a Disney Cruise sponsored excursion but we truly didn’t enjoy it much. The tour around the bay was pretty but that’s about it. They made the kids find coins throughout the ship, which they then had to turn back in. My kiddo had 3 gold coins and 7 regular coins. He was so excited to turn them in for a prize and the pirate took all of his coins, told him only the person with the most coins could get the price- a pirate dog tag chain. He felt bad for my kid so gave him ONE gold coin back. Even my 5 year old was like WHAT WAS THAT?!! No prize. No lollipop. No nothing. Then the “show” continued with lots of odd back and forth talk that wasn’t any fun for kid or adults. No pirate tricks or climbing on the ship or doing anything exciting. They turned the kids into “pirates” and gave one a frying pan, another a duster, and others mops to clean to ship. How is that fun?! Then they played Backstreet Boys and half a Britney Spears song. How is this even pirate related? The captain was a mean pirate woman who screamed and scared the kids and insulted kids and adults alike. And at the end, they did a pretty trashy fight that looked more like a street fight than a pirate battle. Also, there is a rather big hole/opening on the side of the ship that easily fits a small child. We were given 2 bread slices to feed some fish and two little toddlers were trying to go through the hole to look out and feed the fish- their parents were nowhere to be found. I got scared and guided them away from there. There were also unscrewed screws that could easily hurt someone. I felt so bad for my kid. He was so excited to have the pirate experience. He couldn’t wait for it to end. Now he tells everyone he hates pirates :( *To the business owners: This could be such a fun experience. Please use artificial intelligence or hire a talented writer and create a cute and fun kid friendly script and do a few cool pirate tricks and you may be able to save this experience. Also, don’t be so cheap and let the kids keep their coins or give them a little prize or candy. It has so much potential yet it was a huge disappointment for us :( best wishes. Hope it gets some...

My boyfriend and I booked directly, which means that we boarded Blackbeard's Revenge at their designated spot. This also meant that finding the "Blackbeard's Revenge" sign was a bit difficult...
If you exit through the Cruise Ports like we did, turn left (to the west) and walk along Bay St. Intersections aren't always clearly marked. You'll walk past the Phoenix Chinese Restaurant (intersection of Elizabeth St.) If you reach The Coconut Factory (intersection of Victoria St) you've gone too far. You want to cross into a parking lot & gravel terf (to the north) to walk back towards the water. That's when we finally saw the Blackbeard's Revenge sign displayed as a mini billboard :)
Paying with cash in person is ideal -- that's the best way to support the business, and our US Dollar currency was 1:1 . Plus, it includes free drink tickets for regular punch or pirate rum.
LaTonja was super nice and very communicative via email as we booked our trip, and she let us board 30 minutes early. This was incredible for exploring the ship with virtually no one on board. We had VIP access!
Immediately, the pirate crew started interacting with us. If you love renaissance festivals or fan conventions, like I do, this makes for such a warm welcome. My boyfriend and I were questioned about our gold, as well as scolded for taking photos in the Captain's cabin.
Our quartermaster Isaac forgave us for being too nosey and was a very charming person!
Other pirates like Barbara (Archie) were such fun for announcing Nassau and pirate facts over the speaker system, having us recite the pirate's crede, and guiding the kids through fun games like a tug-of-war or feeding the fishes.
Speaking of fish... Fishfry (Gabriel) was easily my favorite pirate. He was such a goof and a wonderful actor, feeding off my enthusiasm and complimenting my costume.
This trio were so lovely and supportive, very inclusive and kind.
Easily my favorite memories of my entire vacation were with the Blackbeard's Revenge...
Read moreGiven the middling google reviews I went into this experience with pretty low expectations. I was pleased to see my expectations exceeded.
My family was on a cruise that docked in Nassau just a few days ago. Our cruise line offered an excursion through Blackbeard’s Revenge. I figured my 4 almost 5yo would get a blast out of a pirate experience at least and this was a hell of a lot cheaper than an Atlantis excursion. Our price for a family of four (wife, me, 4yo, and 2yo) was about $180 and I’d say that was a fair price for this.
The excursion was generally well organized. We were picked up in front of our ship and were escorted about 100 yards down the pier to the dock for the pirate ship. We did have to wait at the pier for about 15 minutes but it was in the shade so it wasn’t too bad.
The ship itself is an older vessel with bathrooms and ac on board for those that need it. The smoke stack does spew fumes and we found that the smell of diesel was unavoidable on the aft of the ship. There are lots of stairs to various parts of the ship, but one could get away without using them if they stayed out on the main deck.
Once the boat got going there was a pirate host who did a decent job of MCing the 1hr45 voyage. There’s treasure for kids to find, jobs that get assigned, fish get fed, drinks to drink, food to buy. In all, my 4yo did have fun. Some of the story line and theater of it was a bit too much for him. He probably spent a majority of time not really engaged with the pirate experience and just enjoying the boat. My 2yo didn’t really get much out of the experience but he didn’t hate it either. As adults my wife and I did enjoy getting to see Nassau by boat and the breeze was absolutely perfect for a nice day...
