We appreciated the charm and central location of the Wildwood Inn—being able to walk to nearby restaurants and explore the area on foot was a definite highlight. The check-in process was smooth, and the TV setup with various channel options was a nice touch for relaxing in the evening.||That said, there were a few aspects of the room that impacted our comfort. While the space had clearly been recently renovated and looked great in photos and at first glance, a closer look revealed some workmanship issues. For example, the bathroom had visible grout inconsistencies, and new caulking had been applied over older, deteriorating material with some mould underneath. The bed and pillows weren’t especially comfortable—the pillows were quite soft and lacked support, and the fitted sheet didn’t stay in place, which made restful sleep a bit difficult. We also noticed there wasn’t much space to store belongings if staying more than a night, and the sound insulation between rooms and from outside was minimal. The front door also didn’t appear to be fully sealed, which may have contributed to the noise.||Still, the setting was peaceful, the inn had a quaint character, and we were glad to be so close to local amenities. And what a change it is. What a refurbishing.What a revamp. What a rebranding. The UWI has19 refurbished rooms, which are likely to easily fill over the summer months. The building has been repainted a contemporary black. UWI’s bathrooms have been redone, as well. Its carpeting has been pulled up & replaced with wood flooring, giving it a far more contemporary look. New fridges have been installed, as well as large TV screens. It also provides its guests with award-winning, environmentally-conscious Mint toiletries. The transformation has been spectacular. Austin, at the front desk, is welcoming & happy to look after guests’ needs. UWI also offers ample free parking.
