Pont du Carrousel is a charming bridge in Paris that spans the River Seine, connecting the right bank near the Louvre Museum to the left bank’s Quai des Tuileries. Named after the nearby Place du Carrousel—a historic square just west of the Louvre—the bridge serves both pedestrians and vehicles, making it a key crossing point in the heart of the city.

The current Pont du Carrousel was constructed between 1930 and 1934, replacing an earlier iron bridge built in the 1830s. The original bridge featured elegant cast iron arches and decorative sculptures, but it was replaced in the early 20th century to accommodate modern traffic needs. The newer bridge combines functionality with a sleek, minimalist style, characterized by its simple arches and clean lines, fitting well with the surrounding classical architecture of central Paris.

From the bridge, you get beautiful views of some of Paris’s most famous landmarks. Looking east, you can see the iconic Louvre Pyramid and the sprawling palace grounds, while westward, the riverbanks, tree-lined quays, and historic buildings create a picturesque scene. The Seine itself, with its gently flowing water and moored boats, adds to the serene atmosphere.

Pont du Carrousel isn’t just a practical way to cross the river—it’s also a spot where locals and tourists pause to take in the quintessential Parisian scenery. Whether you’re strolling by day or enjoying the lights of the city at night, the bridge offers a lovely perspective on Paris’s blend of history, art, and...

As I walked across the Pont du Carousel, I was struck by the breathtaking views of the Seine and the surrounding landmarks. This bridge is truly a marvel of engineering and design, and I couldn't help but feel awed by its beauty.

The Pont du Carousel is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Paris. The bridge is well-maintained and offers a comfortable walking experience. The ambiance is serene, and the sound of the river flowing beneath the bridge is simply mesmerizing.

One of the things that sets the Pont du Carousel apart from other bridges in Paris is the unique views it offers. From here, you can see the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, and Notre-Dame Cathedral all in one glance. It's truly a photographer's dream come true.

I have no complaints or criticisms to make about this place. I found it to be an incredibly enjoyable and peaceful experience.

As for improving the place, I can suggest to add some benches along the bridge for visitors to sit and enjoy the view for a longer period.

I give the Pont du Carousel Paris a five-star rating. It's a special place that captures the essence of Paris and provides a memorable experience for visitors. I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone...

Pont du Carrousel – Paris A charming Parisian bridge right in front of the Louvre — it offers lovely river views, an elegant pedestrian-friendly ambiance, and serves as a quiet alternative to busier crossings nearby. It’s ideal for strolling between the Louvre, Tuileries, and the Musée d’Orsay, resonating with classic Parisian charm.

🏛 Historical Highlights • Origins & Early Design Commissioned by King Louis-Philippe, the original Pont du Carrousel was built in 1831–34 by architect Antoine-Rémy Polonceau. It featured a daring structure of cast iron and wood spanning three arches...
