Oimoyasan Koshin — Local services in Tokyo

We chanced upon Oimoyasan Koshin while walking along the streets connecting to Senso-ji. This is a take-out shop specializing in locally-sourced sweet potato snacks and is highly rated on Tabelog.

We bought the fried sweet potato and the sweet potato custard tart. The fried sweet potato was honestly extremely good! It’s lightly fried and then drenched in sweet syrup, but then again the syrup isn’t so overpowering that it overcomes the natural sweetness of the fried sweet potato. However, the syrup is very sticky so do prepare some wet tissues on hand if not it will create some very sticky situation!

The sweet potato custard tart, however, is not to our liking. We actually tried sweet potato custard tart at some other places as well and we didn’t like it, but we wanted to give ourselves a second chance. I tried both the Miyabi and Aikomachi and the Aikomachi was indeed better! It was sweeter and tastier! I went back a week later to buy more hahah

When we went (mid-Jan 2025), they were only selling the caramelised sweet potatoes. Hope to try other foods in other seasons!
