Hey Kristoff Gallimore,
My buddy, our sons and I just got back from my 10th year fishing with Juan Carlos/Sushi Time and would like to set the record straight as I’m not a fan of cowardly cheap shots, particularly when you’re 2,000 miles away hiding.
Juan Carlos is one of the most reliable, trustworthy and organized guys at the Marina, always there at the agreed upon meeting time and usually get’s us out early. He is why we keep coming back to Cabo, 13 X 3-day trips so far with Sushi Time and counting, great fishing without breaking the bank.
There are usually 2 sides to every story so here’s my take on your review Kristoff.
You agreed to a price but wanted to squeeze him a bit, because you’re probably one of those smooth operators and negotiators. It’s a simple process really, just honour the deal.
Who shows up to a planned fishing charter without the funds to cover it, sounds kind of awkward but even worse, no tip for the Captain? Who does that? You should probably try living within your means and stay home until your financial situation improves.
Honesty and integrity are not a myth; they are real and you could have it if you really wanted it.
Anyhow, fishing was tough for some in Cabo this trip, the water was cool and we have never seen the fish cleaning station that dead, but we caught fish every day, one of the few boats that did according to reports. The overall tally was 18 Roosters, a couple of JT’s, a few Tuna and 12 Sierra that are vacuum sealed, frozen and now resting comfortably in the freezer. Captain Mike worked hard for fish and a shout out to Captain Timo for putting us on fish every day and for his daily onboard preparation of Ceviche with our freshly caught Mackerel, it was just fantastic, another one off the bucket list!
REPLY TO JUAN CARLOS
Yes Sir, my pleasure Juan Carlos, please keep doing what you do. If all goes well, we'll see you this fall before we head back for Superbowl 2026, in the meantime tight lines...
Read moreWell I would have to say this is not the experience I was hoping for with sushi time fishing my son and i were given a but I would call a fill in boat this boat did not belong to sushi time charters it had totally different name on the boat the captain tried to fish I guess trolling for 5 hours is what he would call fishing when I explained to Juan Carlos that I wanted my son to be able to drop the line to the bottom and reel in and catch bottom fish or whatever there was been caught I did not want to troll for 5 hours totally disregarded everything I had talked to him on the phone about he said he would talk to the captain which he never did never walk down to greet the captain on the boat and when we arrived back he was not there to greet us and asked how our trip was I have fished before and was always greeted back by the manager or the owner in charge. I was trying to hint to the captain that I wanted to fish the bottom for red snapper or any other fish not just troll but he was just more concerned or maybe he didn't know how to fish other than trolling very disappointed in my decision to pick Sushi time will never use this company again. We were the last ones out there was some confusion on who to pick up bait from and the bait that I did buy was still alive in the bait tank when we got back so do they sell it back and make a profit on this I would expect that the bait would have been used up any way it could be. Also I had to buy a fishing license for a 12 year old Juan Carlos tells me it's done by size not by age just because I have a big child I had to buy a fishing license for him ridiculous all scam the captain only used only two of the bait that I have bought and when we were done with it the trip the fish was still alive complete scam. We passed by other Sushi time boats out there on the water and the captives were putting in the work fishing on the bottom but ours was just unconcerned and didn't want to put in the work other...
Read moreMy first time in Cabo I knew I wanted to go fishing. I'm not sure how my wife found Sushi Time, but I'm glad she did. Showing up to the marina, it was a bit overwhelming seeing all of the beautiful boats and yachts, then humbling to hop into a little panga, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The captains know how to fish this area without all of the bells and whistles. I went out 2 times during my stay, first with Captain Gerardo then a few days later with Captain Jorge. Both were very knowledgeable and skilled fisherman that did their very best to fill our boat with fish. In 2 days of fishing, I caught 5 different species of fish (Mahi Mahi, Red Snapper, Pompano, Tuna, Taxi). Those fancy boats I wrote about earlier, I never saw one land a single fish, and it seemed like 1 or 2 were shadowing us all day as we landed fish after fish. Out of all of the experiences I've had so far in the 6 nights I've been here, fishing with Sushi Time has been the highlight of my vacation. I will be coming back soon, and without a doubt, I will be booking at least 2 or 3 days of fishing with them. Thank you Juan and crew for such a great time!
Update, Oct 2022 Returned to celebrate my 50th with friends and family and I didn’t hesitate to book with Sushitime. Juan and his crew didn’t let me down. We caught 2 marlin and lots of mahi. Going home with great memories and a pretty good supply of vacuum packed filets. Many thanks to Captain Pedro. He was a very knowledgeable captain and my family...
