We enjoyed all three of the tours we did with Manta this spring: The staff are great, the boats and vans are comfortable, and we saw great wildlife. To start off, I was super impressed with how helpful and prompt the booking team was over email. I think we exchanged about 12 total emails and they were just awesome with all the questions I had. Our first tour was a 2-tank Corridors dive. We were a total of only 4 divers (no snorkelers) with our excellent divemaster Nahuel/Noel (sorry, I didn't ask about spelling). The boat would have accommodated several more people, so we enjoyed that there was plenty of room to spread out. Our captain took great care of us: helping us get in and out of the water, etc. The water in March was much colder than when we had last visited in August, and our divemaster thoughtfully brought hoods for everyone to stay a bit warmer. We saw many lovely fish and a whale was even near us as we ascended on one dive (though it was far enough away that we only saw a brief view). For comfort, I appreciated that the boat had a marine head/bathroom and that there were an abundance of tasty snacks for the surface interval. Our second tour was the trip to La Paz to see whalesharks. We were in a group of total 6 people. Our guide was Jesús and he was super knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The van was quite comfy (even had USB chargers), which made the ride feel not too long. The boat in La Paz didn't have a marine head, so keep that in mind for comfort. The sea lions were a ton of fun to snorkel with, and Jesús packed weight belts for those who wanted to freedive, so that was nice. The planned lunch was kind of a sashimi/sushi situation, and Jesús kindly arranged for alternative lunch for me when I said I didn't eat raw fish. (The others on the tour who did like raw fish said it was DELICIOUS and amply portions.) And the lunch spot on the beach was so chill. The whalesharks were so cool! The visibility was pretty bad, but the vibrant pattern made it easy enough to see them while snorkeling. I don't think the whaleshark snorkel would be good for beginning snorkelers or those who are nervous swimming since there's a lot of in-and-out of the boat, and you have to swim rather quickly to get more than a moment's view. But they're so incredible. And finally, our third tour was an awesome 2-tank dive right in the Marine Park. We lucked out that it was just me and my husband on the tour (private!) and with Jesús again. The boat was huge and super comfortable. (Again, had a marine head.) We saw whales during our surface interval, saw the sandfalls underwater, and tons of cool fish. We had a total blast with Manta and would dive with them again if we are...
Read moreI spent three fantastic days exploring the sea with Manta. This is a very professional, fun, safe, and well-run dive shop. I recommend Manta to anyone diving in Los Cabos!
On my first day, I did a 2-tank refresher dive with Nahuel, who was great. We practiced some scuba skills in the water such as buoyancy, regulator recovery, and air sharing. I felt way more confident going into the water after doing the refresher. We then dove two different dive sites and saw a bunch of sea creatures — a highlight was swimming with the sea lions at Land’s End. Nahuel was an awesome divemaster — he was a ton of fun, told us all about the history and geography of the area, gave clear briefings, and made sure to point out creatures such as octopuses and eels. Also thanks to our boat captain Pedro for getting us really close to the sea lions!
The next day I did a 3-tank dive with Jesús. This was a fantastic day of diving! We saw eagle rays, two schools of devil rays, white tip reef sharks, sea lions, and an octopus. From inside the boat we also spotted some whales and dolphins. Jesús was a great divemaster — he pointed out tons of cool stuff underwater, and made sure we were all having a good time. A huge thanks to the entire boat crew as well! The Manta team spotted a school of jumping devil rays and took us over to go impromptu snorkeling with them.
Finally, on the 3rd day, we did the full-day whale shark trip to La Paz with Polo as our guide. Since we were snorkeling, my fiancée (a non-diver) was able to join the trip and swim with the whale sharks as well. This trip was so cool!!! I’d always wanted to see a whale shark, and swimming with them was a real highlight. The sharks move very quickly and our boat captain was skilled at following the shadows so we could jump in at the right spot. Polo, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the whale sharks and we learned a ton from him. We also went snorkeling with sea lions afterwards which was so fun, they’re really playful and swam right up to us. Then we stopped on a private beach for delicious fresh sashimi for lunch.
All in all, I strongly recommend Manta to anyone visiting Los Cabos! They are true professionals who will keep you safe while making sure you have an amazing time. Thank you Nahuel, Jesús, and Polo, and to our awesome...
Read moreWe went out with Manta twice. The first day we dove the local marine reserve with Nahuel. He was hilarious and a great dive master!! I was having issues equalizing my ears and he stayed beside me to help me and make sure I went slow. On the second dive I was not able to go down and he brought my back up to the boat, made sure I was on safely, and then went back down to the group. We saw a ton of marine life and visibility was great! On the second dive my husband saw sea lions!
The second day we did the Whale Shark swim in La Paz. Baptiste was our instructor and he was wonderful!!! I was impressed that in the morning when we came in to the dive shop to meet, they were honest about the weather rolling in and said they weren’t sure if we would be able to do the dive after the whale sharks. We weren’t able to and they gave us some money for the dive back. It is about a two hour drive and we stopped at a small local place for breakfast on the way that was delicious. The rules for the whale sharks are that once a boat finds a shark, no other boat can start following it and you are allowed to follow the shark for 30 mins. It’s nice because it is only your boat with one shark and 5 people allowed in at once. It honestly did not feel over crowded and I felt like I had plenty of time right up beside the shark. At one point my husband and I were the only one swimming with it! Baptiste and the boat driver did a great job knowing the projectoty of the shark and dropping us in right beside it! Be prepared to do some swimming and to be tired!!! It is so worth it though!!!! On the way home they let us pick if we wanted to stop by a small empanada stand or go to a sit down restaurant. We went with the restaurant and it was amazing and very authentic! They also had drinks/snacks for the car and boat ride. I promise you will not go hungry or thirsty!!
I was very impressed with the staff and equipment at Manta. Comparing the dive boats while we were out the first day, Mantas was easily the biggest and nicest. They don’t over crowd the boats either. I will only dive with...
