Dear Helhousing, Through this message, I would like to express my dissatisfaction with how you treat tenants. I rented a room from you from November to February. I lived in a flat with 12 bedrooms. All the flatmates who lived here were very nice and sociable. However, the facilities were not very good but that was made up for by the nice people who lived there. The only thing I'm not happy about is my flat manager and how she deals with things. I think it is almost criminal how she has taken money from me. It all started when I said that I might want to move. Then I said, I may want to book my room but I will let you know in three days. Then I was told that it was all right. Then two days later I was told that my room had been let to someone else and that I had to go somewhere else. Then I was sent all kinds of options of rooms. Of course, I did not agree to this because I did not like it. I understand that you want to fill as many rooms as possible, but I expect a bit of transparency from an organisation such as Helphousing. Then came the following which I was very dissatisfied with and really find unacceptable. While moving a sofa, the leg broke off. I then made the bench again. While making the bench, I saw that there were nails in it that didn't belong there. This made it clear that the bench had already been broken once. A month after I had fixed the broken sofa, it broke down again. I then explained all this to the flat manager and was fined by HELPHOUSING for the entire broken sofa including shipping costs. They also charged me for putting the sofa back together. After many messages back and forth, I really had to pay and an amount of 326 euros was deducted from my deposit. In the screenshots below I show how the apartment manager Olga reacted to this. She doesn't want to know anything about this and I just have to pay. This is a criminal way of dealing with tenants. A very easy way to take money from students who speak poor Spanish. I hope that I can convince other people to work with Helphousing. In the end I was also charged extra because I did not put the right plates and glasses in my room. While everyone in the house uses everything. All this together has cost me 338 euros while as a student I don't have much money. I think it is not acceptable and I am very disappointed in Helphousing. Besides this I also find it unacceptable that you employ people like Olga who just don't listen to tenants. And such messages as the one below. If you want to get in contact with you have my information. Kind regards, Wichard Boon

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

I have gotten a room with this company in the center of Madrid. The location was very good and I think that this is the only positive thing I can say about it.

They will try their very best to steal money from you! Their customer service is 0 to nonexistent! As long as they get the money at the end they do not care to treat you like you are a 3 year old child.

My problem started on week 1. Actually on day 2 that I arrived when my door locked itself with my keys inside. No, the door does not have the system of locking from the inside. It literally just locked itself. When I tried contacting them during the weekend (that was when it happened), nobody answered me. There was no emergency number (which I think now they have because of what happened to me). We had to break the door because my brother was gonna travel the next morning and we needed his luggage.

The other day when I was finally able to speak to my flat manager, she was completely not understanding of the situation. She LOVED putting the blame on me instead of the door and saying that this was their fault! Furthermore, I lived with 7 people that were able to "testify" that it was not my fault and that indeed the door locked itself. End of the story, I had to pay 95 euros. They payed the other half, but I do still think that they should have payed the full amount. OBS: the flat manager would often answer us on WhatsApp sometimes DAYS later with no help at all and multiple times answered us like we are children. She even said: "If you want, I CAN SEND SOMEONE TO TEACH YOU HOW TO CLOSE THE DOOR". Are you serious? Teach me how to close a door. Does this sound like they were blaming this on me? YES..... Oh and not to mention that weeks later another person from my flat also was locked out of her room with her keys inside. After that everyone started to leave their keys on the outside part of the lock.

Other than that, the stupid fees that you have to pay for breaking a plate or small other things. LIKE COME ON! These are things that for the sake of customer service you are the ones who do it!

Also, we could not have 2 people having a hot shower after the other. We complaint to the "A-M-A-Z-I-N-G" flat manager! It took us 20 days to be able to have hot water. During these days we were showering in neighbours and at the gym. When we refused to pay the electricity bill of that month in a way of protesting the terrible service, she said she would speak to her boss to see if that would be ok. WE WAITED. 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months. Time for us to receive the deposit back. She says: "My boss realised that in that month the electricity bill was already way lower than the previous ones and that is why we will just take that back from the deposit". Now you may ask me: "Why do you think the electricity bill was so low that month??". OH BECAUSE WE WERENT USING THE SHOWER THAT USES AN ELECTRIC HEATER!!! wow only a genius to figure this one out.

Conclusion: THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND THEY WILL USE THEIR POWER TO SHOVE THAT INTO YOUR FACE. Also they will treat you like you dont know anything better. Have some self-respect people and DO NOT RENT WITH THEM. Take a company that actually cares for...

HelpMadrid Review I was a HelpMadrid tenant from September till the end of December of 2021, and it has been quite an experience. My flat manager was Enrique and, although I was overall very dissatisfied with the agency, Enrique was always responding to my messages and tried to help with any issue I was having. My overall negative experience has been a result of a few things during my stay: Rooms definitely do not resemble the website pictures. It seems as if the pictures were very old and taken when the flat was first renovated.. Rooms in reality were extremely damaged, they were poorly equipped, and the furniture was old. Consequently, every few days something broke down. In our flat specifically the toilet in one of the bathrooms was broken down multiple times and although the maintenance “fixed” it, it kept breaking down every few days. Some other things that constantly fell out of use were: door handles, closets, bathroom window (that for some reason was never fixed), etc. I find it very obscure that an agency, that charges such a high agency fee, does not have a proper emergency number. Flat managers are available from 9am till 7pm and after that no one would answer their phone. Emergency line does exist, but only during the weekend and again only till 7pm. I had an accident, as an example, that happened in my room. The washing machine from the upper floor got clogged and the water started falling through my room, all over my walls, mattress and personal belongings. Since the accident happened at 10pm, no one from the agency answered my calls. I had to figure out what to do and where to sleep that night on my own, yet I never got an apology from anyone. My flat manager did reply to me the next morning but the maintenance didn't come to fix my room for another 2-3 weeks. Moreover I was advised to use the heater frequently to keep the room warm which in the end resulted in our flat being charged huge amounts of bills for the month of November. Sound isolation in the building simply does not exist, therefore you can hear everyone talking at any time of the day no matter where in the flat they are. That specific issue became very prominent during the exam season when it was impossible to sleep or study. I personally have complained multiple times about the noise of the upper flat and was told the issue would be solved yet the noise only became stronger and no one took serious measures about it. The flat does not have an implemented heating system but uses electric heaters to heat up the flat, which is unquestionably not enough in winter months. The common areas such as the living room, bathrooms and hall were so cold that we had to wear multiple layers of clothes or even jackets just to be able to sit there comfortably. Lastly, some things in our flat were never fixed. An example of that would be the moldy fridge which was not cooling properly. When we reported the issue, we were told that “it cannot be cleaned” before the new tenants arrived and that it was our responsibility to clean it ourselves. To conclude, HelpMadrid agency may be useful when it comes to finding a short term stay in Madrid, but there is a lot of room for improvement in doing...

Bad experience!!

I have lived from 04.09.19 to 21.12.19 in the Calle de Preciados 42 5i, with seven other flat mates in a flat-sharing community.

it didn't say there was no bedspread and pillows Floor was broken and very dangerous there was only one vacuum cleaner with pipe, so it took four times as long to vacuum something Landlord Olga was super unfriendly, she didn't let herself discuss with her, could hardly speak any English although it stood everywhere that the company can speak English You have to sign the contract in Spanish, so you can't control if what you sign is true a pure rip-off in terms of bail and extra costs the office is very messy and confusing, you have to wait forever to be able to sign even though you have arranged an appointment there were simply without announcements several times strangers in our apartment who all had a key the apartment is very sensitive, and you could hear everything, even in the whole house for the two bathrooms we had no heaters, so it was unbearably cold there from October on for the hallway, the living room and the kitchen we only had a mini radiator, so it didn't work at all My room description said that I had a balcony, but I just had a grille in front of my window. So, I couldn't take a single step out of it I did not get my full deposit back, because repair costs were deducted, in a period when I did not live there at all All in all, Helpmadrid is a rip-off, just out for their money and not to be talked to

Helpmadrid Rezension:
