Lou Lou Boutiques — Local services in Annapolis

IF YOU ARE BLACK, BROWN, or “fit the description” BEWARE! I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by the service my wife and I received today, June 1, 2024. I’ve shopped at Lou Lou’s a few times and today my wife and I visited the boutique intending to make a few purchases. I had my eye on a dress and a few pieces of jewelry. My wife mentioned that she felt like she was being followed, we are African American, I did not notice at first and continued browsing, but then I did observe an associate following closely behind us while looking at various items. Then my mother, who is white, stated that she agreed we were being followed. We immediately left, both of us feeling very upset and violated. My wife cried. My mom approached one of the associates to inform them about our negative experience and the associate denied the accusation by saying we weren’t being followed and were watching another group of people. We went into Lou Lou’s to look at their jewelry selection because my cousin wanted to buy something for her mom. Immediately this lady starting staring us down and asking us what we were looking for. When my cousin picked out two bracelets, the lady insisted on holding them. She then continued to follow us around the store. When my child cousin left our side she followed her back to the jewelry and kept asking her questions. I actually asked my other cousin why she was on her tail as soon as she walked away from us and my cousin said I have to stay by your side cause she’s following me. Then we checked out and left cause we felt uncomfortable. Then we went to another boutique and we were talking about what happened when the lady working overheard and said that she gets young girls in all the time saying this lady was following them around. I can’t say enough about Amy! She went above and beyond to find the necklace I needed! I mistakenly bought my daughter a silver necklace instead of gold. By the time I went back to the store to exchange it all the gold one were no where to be found. She called all the local locations without luck. She had one more store in Virginia that thought could help her. She took my information and a week later called me back with the best news!! She found it!!
