What an amazing experience. Up front, I'll say you shouldn't go anywhere else in Annapolis for jewelry needs. If you want patience, a personal touch, and an incredible piece of jewelry that your special someone will know is totally unique to them, you should be at Ron George Jewelers. Read on to find out why.
I came in with a long wish list (thanks to a then-girlfriend who knew what she was looking for) and Ron was able to construct her dream ring based solely on a verbal description from me -- a task that is even more impressive when you consider my lack of knowledge on the subject. Even when I realized that I had mistakenly asked Ron for a feature that I didn't actually want, he quickly (within about a week, due to the impending proposal!) and graciously altered the ring until it fit exactly what I had been trying to describe.
Ron and his son patiently took the time to educate me on diamonds, helping me understand that I didn't have to spend a mountain of cash to get exactly what I wanted. As Ron realized what I was trying to describe to him, he helped me downsize from a .73 carat diamond to a .64 carat diamond -- a net loss of about $800 for Ron -- just because it helped me create the perfect ring for my fiancee (she said YES!!!).
To top it all off, Ron and his son worked with me to incorporate my grandmother's engagement ring into my fiancee's ring. The result was perfect -- metal from my grandma's ring seamlessly incorporated along the inside of my fiancee's ring, unnoticeable unless you're looking for it. The remainder of grandma's ring was respected, cared for, and returned to me by Ron and his son.
Ron was always responsive, up front about cost, willing to take feedback and make alterations, and as enthusiastic about my ideas as I was. I quickly began referring to him as "my jeweler" when I was updating close friends and family on the process. That's how you'll feel if you are lucky enough to do business with Ron and his staff.
Thank you Ron!! You guys are the best. Looking forward to doing business again, but also looking forward to dropping in from time to time...
Read moreI entrusted Ron George Jewelers with my wife's engagement ring for what should have been a routine repair. What followed was four months of emotional stress, broken promises, mishandled communication, and irreparable damage --both to the ring and to my trust in this business.
After initially being told the ring had been stolen by a former employee, I later found out it had actually been in the possession of one of Ron George's outsourced vendors the entire time. This caused a great deal of unnecessary stress and confusion. Even worse, the ring underwent multiple unauthorized alterations by this third party -- each one further diminishing its value, integrity, and sentimental worth. Ultimately, the ring was returned to me damaged beyond repair, no longer the piece I originally gave my wife.
After lengthy discussions, the owner and I mutually agreed upon a settlement to compensate for the loss -- not just financially, but for the emotional and sentimental toll this situation took. However, once that amount was agreed upon in writing, the owner suddenly reversed course, brought in an attorney, and began backtracking on the settlement we had both agreed was fair.
What's the most painful about this experience is not just the loss of a treasured heirloom, but the lack of accountability, empathy, and follow-through from a business I trusted. Throughout this ordeal, I was met with dismissiveness, conflicting stories, and ultimately legal intimidation.
As a 20-year military veteran who has endured far more difficult circumstances than this, I can say without hesitation that this experience left me emotionally drained and deeply disheartened. It is profoundly disappointing to be treated this way by a jeweler whose public image promotes integrity and craftsmanship.
I would strongly urge others to think twice before entrusting Ron George Jewelers with anything personal or sentimental value. In my case, what was lost cannot be replaced, and that pain has been made worse by the way this business has chosen...
Read moreNormally I don’t write reviews, but I felt this to be necessary. My fiancé and I live about an hour away from Annapolis. Originally went there because they had the perfect wedding band that I wanted, my fiancé could get his band and I was told that they could resize my moisannite engagement ring (not many places do). So I was super happy with this place. We got sized and bands were ordered and my engagement ring was taken to be resized. Order was ready for pickup, wrong band for fiancé was ordered and price went up, my engagement ring was barely sized down at all. I needed 6.5 and he gave me 7.25. Resized again, plus they were going to charge me again even though it was not my fault. Just went to pick it up again today and it feels like there was no change in the size again. It’s too big but I’m tired of driving 1 hour each way to not get what I’m asking for and was told could be done. Communication is poor. I feel like what I say is not being heard or understood. Definitely needs some...
