I love the belt line and what it has done for the city. But the East Side stretch from Piedmont Park to Irwin is far far too dangerously crowded. Walkers make up about 75-90% of the traffic on the belt line whenever I am out there riding. Most walking groups often walk more than half the path wide, are oblivious to bikers and how they are blocking the path. It is impossible for bikers to ride their bikes safely among the crowds. There very clearly needs to be separation of walking paths and bike-only paths. For public safety. It's a very serious problem and has only been escalating since the path opened. Please get more signs out there that alert walkers to be aware of all their surroundings, to only walk 2 people wide, to allow for bikers to pass them within their right lane. And PLEASE do something about this before someone gets seriously hurt. Not only is it not safe, but it also take all the fun out of being outdoors riding your bike.
