UPDATE: I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SHOE IN THIS STORE.. sorry Jeff I was rocking with you unfortunately, I came into Walter's to use store credit from a pair of shoes I returned in January. I was told when I made the return that all I'd need was my ID -- the store keeps the slip on file. When I gave my name and ID, the associate couldn't find my slip. Instead of continuing to look thoroughly, he accused me of already using the credit or that it wasn't in my name, suggesting I was trying to get over on the store. This was said in front of other customers, which left me feeling humiliated, disrespected, and singled out. I later found a picture of my slip and saw the store had made the error -- my name was written incorrectly on their end. Which was funny because I was told it was my fault and that in all the years the store had been operating, they had "never made a mistake." My name starts with an "S" why was there an "M" on the slip, I have no clue. Even after it was clear I was right, there was no apology or effort to make things right. In that moment, I did not feel I was given the same respect or fair treatment that another customer might have received. The entire interaction was unprofessional and extremely...
ย ย ย Read moreI started at GSU in 2005. Running on the track/XC team got athletes $250 a semester for new trainers and spikes. So, we just ran in busted old trainers and last years spikes and took our allowance to the 2 for $50 bottom shelf at Walters. You really could get Fila's and Airforce ones for next to nothing at Walters back then. Walt and Jeff always took care of us. Once in 2007 when the first live action transformers movie came out Nike released the first run of "transforming" shoes to select specialty stores. I was a transformers nut and needed the shoes but could only afford one. After I spent an hour fighting the impossible decision between an Optimus Prime Air Trainer III and the Starscream air trainer Hurrache, Jeff said, "Look, if you buy a pair and promise this is for collecting and never to sell, I'll give you the other." That was 15 years ago. I attached a pic from 15 seconds ago.
15 years from now I'll still have these shoes and Walter's will still be the best place to...
ย ย ย Read moreAn iconic store in the A, so I was excited for my first visit. However, that changed quickly. I felt like a criminal as soon as I entered the store. I wish, I could better verbalize the feeling. There's a gentleman who sits by the door who inquires about the nature of your visit and then gives further instructions. Then he proceeds to stand to watch you as you navigate the store. I get it, retail crime is an issue so retailers must be vigilant, but sheesh.
I didn't have to go far because the item was already placed at the counter because my family member called in advance. I wanted to look around before making my purchase but I didn't feel comfortable enough to do so. The other employees were stoic and offered little in the way of customer service.
Positives, they have a ton of merchandise and if you are into sneakers and street wear they will most likely have what you need. Go for the convenient location, the history and the...
