Updated 1/29/19 NO SECURITY FOR RESIDENTS IN A DOWNTOWN BUILDING I am a 2Hopkins resident. I chose to post under a different name, for fear of reprisal. You are locked in and they know it. The place is an old building, with brand new interior, but it’s already starting to look worn out. The trash chute seems to break down a lot. And just pretty much call it a day if anything breaks outside of "business hours". Everything echos through the vents, you can hear everyone's toilets flush. The views are amazing, the neighborhood is beautifully historic but terrible for crime. They only clean the dog parks once a day (but tell you it is 4 times a day). The stench is so bad that it permeates into the hall (unfortunately you have to walk through that hall to get to one of the workout rooms). The smell is because they don’t wash the fake grass with any kind of soap, only rinse it maybe every other day. There was a time when the building promised to put a pool and grilling area on the roof, but now that is not going to happen. They just increased storage unit pricing and added it onto everybody’s rent after rent was paid and threatened late pays, without a 60 day notice which is a requirement according to the lease. They have now taken away the security guards (except for Thurs, Fri, Sat-when there is security from 8pm-4am only). An UNSECURE BUILDING in DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE. Seriously?! But it is in our lease that they can pull our security at any time without breach, so we as residents have no recourse. And before management lists all the ways this building is secure. It is not. I’m not going to tell all the ways you can get in here, because I care about mine and my neighbors safety. Additionally, pray there is not a life or death situation and emergency responders cannot get to me because I’m unconscious or unable to get out of my apartment and there is no one to let them in through the locked doors and elevators. This building is charging the “comparable” rent prices of neighboring buildings, with 1/3 the amenities and no security. When trying to talk to the office about any kind of issues, I am told, “no one else is complaining about it” or “you seem to be the only one experiencing this problem”. Again, the large windows, views, and the serenity you feel when you close your door to your apartment is what keeps me here (even the noise coming through vents and loud toilets become tolerable). The outside issues are now adding up though. BUYER BEWARE aka...
Read moreI am so happy about my upcoming move. 2 Hopkins has everything that I can want in an apartment as an evening law student and a professional working during the day. The space is excellent. The amenities for the price and quality are unmatched in the area. The new appliances, the full washer and dryer in each unit, the view and movable island, the cold food storage, indoor dog park, and onsite alterations sounds like I will be living the dream with convenience and ease.
2 Hopkins is a 5-minute walk from the law school. Due to its proximity, I can take advantage of UMD's safe ride service that will take me directly to my apartment at night after class. I don't think I could have found a better place to stay.
I also appreciate the great service that Mathew has provided since I began looking for a place. He is kind, attentive, informative, and quick with getting me what I need. It doesn't matter when I contact him; he quickly responds with what I want. When I came in for my tour, he listened to what I asked for and showed me the best options for my criteria in my budget. He has been flexible and understanding of my unique situation. I was nervous I wasn't going to get the unit I wanted, but because of is good communication, he kept me notified on every option I had and the deadlines. I appreciate that.
Since the virus, haven't been able to revisit the apartments, but Mathew still answers every question working from home. He has sent additional video tours and paperwork within 10 minutes of me asking. It has made me so comfortable and satisfied during this time. I can honestly say I am not worried about moving without another tour.
I am happy to say I will be starting my lease in July, and I hope everything continues to go as smoothly as it has these...
Read moreI spent the last year at 2 Hopkins, and it has by far been thee best living experience I've had in an apartment or condo. The building is run exceptionally well from top to bottom, Jessica(Building Director) and Matthew(Assistant Community Director) do a phenomenal job keeping the building exceptionally clean and safe. If you are like me and you like a living community that is constantly looking for ways to engage tenants and create spaces for tenants to get to know one another, then 2 Hopkins is the place for you. During the pandemic the staff provided Donuts form a local small business for National Donut Day, they gave out mini party packs for Cinco De Mayo, St. Patty's, and National Bourbon Day to name a few. We had our first 2 Hopkins community wide social last month and they did in awesome job of creating a warm, welcoming, and safe space for tenants to mingle and chat over drinks and food provided by the staff. When I was out of town for an extended period of time, the staff reached out to me to see if I would like for them to take packages that had been delivered up to my apartment.
The only time I needed maintenance was to change the water filter on my refrigerator and the took care of it within 10mins of me submitting the request online. My only complaint is that I had leave 2 Hopkins after only a year due to a job opportunity in another state. I truly enjoyed my time at 2 Hopkins and highly recommend anyone moving to the Baltimore area give...
