We just got back from an amazing trip to Bar Harbor. While walking back to where we were staying, we stumbled upon Hidden Barn Books. The owner let us walk around and check out the shop even though it hasn’t officially opened yet. She was so kind and wonderful!!! The shop is so gorgeous and smelled like pine from renovations which we both adored. It was so cozy and a quiet escape from all the tourist shops down the street. We’re hoping to visit again next year so we can see the bookstore completely set up and officially become customers! Absolutely recommend stopping in if you happen to be nearby, it’s a magical bookstore!

Thrilled to have another excellent book store in Bar Harbor! HBB’s collection of books are highly curated and include something for everyone. This is not only a store for book lovers, it’s one that will surely create new ones - the passion for books is palpable. And the space! I hope Genie doesn’t mind if I move in😉. It’s a dream spot to browse, or head upstairs to read or play a game with a friend.

This is a beautiful little bookshop. Not as many selections as Sherman’s, but the collection of offered books seems chosen with care. Of course, any bookshop that includes Henning Mankell in its mystery section has my heart. It also has an upstairs where you can bring your laptop to work and games if you just want to hang out.

Hidden Barn Books is an absolute gem. Tucked inside a beautifully weathered old barn, this brand new bookstore is one of my favorite places in Bar Harbor. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the nostalgic aroma of old barn wood mingling with the scent of books—utterly inviting.

The owner was so welcoming and warm, and was open to adding books to her collection of available titles. The space is thoughtfully organized to highlight the barn’s rustic charm while remaining bright, open, and easy to browse.

Upstairs is a wonderful loft area with comfortable chairs perfect for reading or relaxing with friends. They even have board games you can enjoy while you unwind.

We loved the experience so much that we came back a second time the very same day when we visited the town. If you’re anywhere near Bar Harbor, make sure Hidden Barn Books is at the top...

What an incredible place!! "Hidden Barn" is an apt name -- Go looking for this gem tucked behind Reel Pizza. Beautiful, light, airy, and full of carefully curated books. We're longtime fans of Sherman's, too -- BUT this place has some lovely differentiators for when you need to scratch a different kind of itch:

Ambience (Sherman's is wonderful, but usually busy/hectic when we go there. Hidden Barn has a multitude of spots where you can sit and relax!) Super laid-back, community-driven feel Personalized attention from a kind and passionate owner who's always down to chat A beautiful "third space" upstairs area where you can read, play board games, or type away at your next novel-in-progress!

We will be back a...
