Hands down, no questions asked, you HAVE to go see Geena. She will transform your hair into its best possible self. She uses styling and care techniques that make hair feel healthier and look better for a longer period of time, and will build a long-term relationship with you that is focused on keeping your hair healthy and beautiful.
Geena has seriously done what I didn’t even think was possible with my flimsy, ultrathin hair. I didn’t think it was possible for a haircut to be so good, so PERFECT, that my hair could look spiky and sexy and AMAZING after being under a hat and squished to the back of a chair all day. DON’T. MOVE. SOMEONE GET THE HAIRSPRAY AND PRESERVE THIS MASS OF BRIERY SEDUCTION FOR ALL TIME. When I went in to see Geena for the first time and told her that people usually buzzed my sides with number 4 clippers to make them short enough for my liking, she said that my hair would look better and last longer if cut exclusively with regular shears going forward and NEVER clippers. I was very skeptical of this unconventional approach to hair cutting, but figured I would let her do her thing and see if she could get a number 4 result using shears. HOLY DAMN YOU GUYS MY HAIR LOOKED MORE BALLER THAN EVERY NUMBER 4 CLIPPERS JOB I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE COMBINED. SERIOUSLY. And as my hair grew out over the following weeks, it NEVER got shaggy or unkempt and STILL looked and felt EPIC by the time I came back TWO MONTHS LATER to get my next haircut with her!
That’s another thing: my haircuts last almost THREE TIMES LONGER than any others before this. Before going to Geena, I couldn’t go more than three weeks after a $50 salon haircut because my hair was so shaggy and split-ended and felt like something a horse would eat. I now go in every TWO MONTHS, and even then my hair looks and feels nearly as fresh as it did when first cut. I also NEVER GET BAD HAIR DAYS ANYMORE: my hair is consistently much softer and more pliable and is altogether much easier to manage. Don’t ask me how she does it. I don’t know. It’s magic on par with Mr. Krabbs’s secret Krabby Patty formula.
Geena is not just a hair stylist; she’s a haircare specialist as well. She knows exactly how to make hair its healthiest and keep it that way, and it has to do with how it is cut as well as the products used to treat it on a daily basis. So she WILL inquire about the kinds of hair products you use, and may go about shearing you in new and wondrous ways of which you had never heard tell before. But you won’t be sorry. Oh no. You’ll actually be downright relieved that someone FINALLY has hair figured out and can take that responsibility off your shoulders, literally and...
Read moreI have a few comments to make about Geena and her work. First, my haircut. I have really fine hair that is, unfortunately, thinning and she was extremely mindful to NOT pull my hair. If you have hair like mine you know it’s not super exciting to get your haircut because it’s flat and lame. Well, that’s not true with Geena! She updated my cut from a med-long length to just above my shoulders, and then in a future appointment to jaw length and I LOVE it. Super easy to do, lighter, and I feel better about my hair! Geena also helped me get my color back in line. I was a “COVID” let it go gray and then just looked old and tired, so she got me back to a rich shade of brown that is so much better. I have had some “interesting” color experiences at the past from some high-end salons to private well located locations. Wow, so many people don’t listen to you, you know what I mean? I’m not crazy picky, but my skin starts to look really ruddy if there is any type of warm undertone. It’s a bummer to pay a lot for a color you hate, right? Ok, let’s talk about Geena. She is the opposite of the things that are issues above. She is always super friendly and actually talks about my hair! She tells me what I can do to make it healthier, chats about things she notices and makes recommendations — all in a way that you feel like it’s a friend giving you real advice without judgement. She clearly wants to make sure you have some strategies to maintain health. BUT when she isn’t chatting about your hair, she genuinely wants to know who YOU are. She has a lot of long term clients, so she loves getting to know about kids, pets, grandparents, etc. She is also very honest and open and, if you ask, she’ll talk about herself also. I have found in the past, my hairdresser will ask questions, but the relationship is one-way. Or it’s small talk. I’m sure if you told Geena you just wanted to chill and listen to music, she’d give you the space to have quiet and not chat, I don’t prefer that, but she seems pretty easy. Geena now sees my 14 YO daughter who I honestly don’t trust to many people, but she loves Geena and goes in herself. If she has any openings, you should run (don’t walk) to...
Read moreI've tested many hair stylists in my lifetime but never stuck with one. I also never used to get regular hair cuts/trims/color, mainly because I never had a stylist I trusted nor had confidence in.
Then I met Geena. Invest in getting to know her and let her get to know you and your personal style. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work and clients and it shows. An example of her skill with haircuts shows the way my haircut looks fresh even if I'm a couple weeks late for a trim (not all wonky and uneven after other haircuts). This is all because of the WAY she cuts hair. It's magic.
Come in ready to share what you're trying to achieve and she will be 100% honest with you in terms of if it is attainable, if it's manageable, suits your personality/lifestyle, and if it will look good on you. 99% of my past experience with other stylists ended with me being unhappy with the result and bitter that they lied about being able to achieve styles shared during consultation.
If for some reason your hair does not come out exactly how you envisioned/discussed with Geena, just be honest with her and she will work with you on a solution.
It has been a couple years since I've been with Geena and everyday is a good hair day, I get stopped by random strangers to compliment/ask to take pics of my hair to take to their own stylists, and most importantly I've learned to properly care for my hair.
I do not take enough pics/selfies of my hair, but attached are just some examples of different hair styles and colors/highlights done by Geena. They are far from glamour shots, but I'm hoping you can see the quality. In writing this review, I just made a promise to myself to take more pics of good hair while I still have it. =) Life is too short for boring hair. Go...
