Food and Ambiance were above decent, but very pricey. Desert was below par. But major disappointment was the service. They also don’t give any complimentary birthday cakes but just do crushed rose on top of the dessert that we order. So they dont do anything special for occasions. Let me break it down. Food: The presentation of the drinks were good with dried ice beneath the drinks to make a smokey environment around the drinks. It was cool. Both the appetizers (chili Gobi and Malai Soya Chaap) tasted well and had good flavors and were our favorite. The main entree (malai kofta) was just ok, not out of the world. Desert (medley of tiramisu slice with gulab jamun, ice cream and macaron) was really bad. Tiramisu inside was frozen and it was evident that it was not sufficiently thawed. There was some smell in the ice cream and macaroons were really bland. Service: this was the worst part. After we were seated, noone came to take our order for 20mins, and I had to get out of seat to get someone. It took about 20mins for the drinks to come and another 5 mins for appetizers. We were done with appetizers and noone came to pick up the plates. I had to get up again to let server know. I also let them know that its my wifes birthday and if they can do a surprise desert at the end for her. They said that they can offer tiramisu with crushed dry rose but they will charge for it. I was ok with that given celebration must happen. We waited for almost 30mins for someone for the one entree to come. After we were done, one server came and asked us if we want any desert (i had already ordered it so why would they come and ask for it) and i had to tell it infront of my wife that my choice of desert should already be in the order (there goes the surprise). After another 30mins someone came to give us the desert plate and she again revealed that she is giving us plates for the tiramisu dessert ( surprise crusher again). Then finally the dessert came and server asked me to crush the rose ( i had told the server almost an hour back that it was my wife’s bday and not mine, why would they ask me?). That was the last of the ordeal. Btw, in the entire 2 hours of our dinner, after the food was served, no server came to ask us “how was the food” or even to fill up our empty water glass. Those are basic elements of any restaurant. But yeah overall...
Read morePre-COVID, this place was a normal Indian restaurant that offered a buffet style of classic dishes. Pricing and service and food were great.
Post-COVID, they remodeled the interior and created a pretentious menu that does not reflect the new adjusted prices (on average everything increased in price by 25%, and the portion size decreased by over 50%).
I went with two coworkers back in October. The place was dead empty at noon on a work day. When we entered, they still wanted to write our names down in the book even though they seated us right away.
From trying to decipher the new pretentious menu with things like "treasure chest", we settled on some random dishes that I do not remember what they were.
From the time we were seated to placing the order. It took almost 70 minutes to get our dishes. However, about 60 minutes of us waiting, another couple entered and was seated and ordered. Their food came out almost exactly at the same time as ours.
I used to be a restaurant manager, and my suspicion is that the entire kitchen was "cold", aka nothing was running to save on overhead/operating costs.
Flagging down a server was also impossible, one of them kept staring out the window which his arms crossed behind his back as if he were watching the sunset.
The others were hiding in the kitchen, and the one that took our name at the front was invisible.
Don't go here. They are using the pandemic and inflation as a means to pass the cost to the customer, while simultaneously shrinkflating their own portions.
There's a good reason this place was empty during the lunch rush, and it shows. The old Chutney's was packed. The new one? Never seen people inside it unless Kobe Korean/Japanese restaurant was overflowing and there was no time to look for another place (that's why we ended up...
Read moreThis is one of the very few Indian restaurants in this area which offer good dine in atmosphere. I have been going here for 8+ years now. It has gone through a lot of transition. Fortunately, food has been really good ever since. But thats it. Recently the hospitality and service has reduced drastically. Last I dined here on 10/1/2024. It was so bad that I have to share my experience. We sat around 7:10. That is not a busy time for this restaurant. Has a result, lots of tables were empty. Now for first 15 mins, manager and one more person there were conducting interviews for perspective workers for the restaurant on a table right next to our table where we were seated. That was very disturbing. Infact I could hear them so loudly that I know all the conditions they put forward to the candidates. Anyway, that ended, food was good. It was time for check. The waitress brought one of those hand held devices on which you tab/use card to pay. She told us our total and explicitly said “tip is not included”. I have been to this place before and confirmed with her since my suspicion was it is included. Also, i knew how much the bill should have been and i kind of knew she was lying. Anyway, i paid, added some tip as well and then I asked for a paper receipt. Viola, she came back with the receipt and apologized that she was wrong and tip is already included. At that point she offered to call the manager and refund the additional tip I had added. Since, I didn’t want the refund, I refused.
But I do want to call out that they are doing this fraud of telling customers that the tip is not included although they have already included it in the bill. So beware. I will bring it up to WA state attorney general soon. But hopefully they will fix it before that.
Having said that, food is...
