I recently moved my mother into the Memory Care floor of The Watermark Bellevue. Granted, I selected this facility in no small part due to the proximity to my home. However, my choice was made after having vetted several facilities, including one on the East Coast in my mother's neighborhood where she was living before her relocation to Washington State. In short, my experience with Watermark Bellevue's Director of Outreach, Patty Aldridge and the attentiveness of the staff, the many positive Senior Living reviews that the Watermark name has accumulated over the years, and last but not least, the quality of not only the facility, but its rich programs (available to its memory care and assisted living folks alike - bonus!) sealed the deal for me. It has been just about one month, and I have not been disappointed! I have felt heard as a caregiver, and my mother has received the respect, dignity and kindness that I had expected. She is making friends, enjoying the activities, and feeling empowered by living within a safe community that provides her with the supportive framework she needs to live more comfortably and joyfully despite her considerable short term memory challenges. It's not without its ups and downs - life is a journey, that's for sure - but it works, and works really well. As time goes on, I look forward to engaging the staff to help me stitch together the best possible fabric for my mother's new life at The...
Read moreAfter being a part of the Watermark community for over a year, what impresses me most is not only attention to the safety and wellbeing of my parents, but also the emphasis on retention and training of personable, caring staff.
Watermark is a place you would like to spend time with your family. When I reach out with concerns or issues, I feel heard and confident my parentâs needs will be addressed. High standards for fresh, nutritious, interesting meals are met daily. When asked about the food, my Dad always boasts âthe food is excellentâ. Activities are engaging, fun and inclusive. There are constant surprises and delights around the corner. The expectation for a high-level of service is clear, everyone that works here goes above and beyond, from the reception, executives, drivers, nurses, care staff, activities, chefs, housekeeping and maintenance and administrative teams.
In memory care, staff work as a team which I believe is directly due to the leadership of the memory care director who Iâve seen bring excellent operational standards to life. I learned better ways to navigate changes my Mom was experiencing by attending the monthly dementia care events. There is open, honest communication with families and an attitude of always striving to improve and taking feedback to heart. So thankful to have found such a wonderful, positive, supportive place for my...
Read moreWe've been living in the Watermark independent living complex for three months and absolutely love it here. Very friendly residents and staff, incredible facility, outstanding meals at multiple in-house restaurants, location that has allowed us to get rid of one car. Across the street from East Main light rail station, walking distance to stores, medical facilities, parks--or driver will take you in Watermark SUV to locations within 5 miles. Very welcoming to our dog, who also loves it here. In just the past few days, we've been to Zumba and strength and balance classes, book club, did karaoke in the 20th floor lounge with sweeping views of Mt. Rainier, listened to live guitar in the bistro at "wine down Wednesday", attended the outstanding "Feeling Our Age" art gala, complete with live music and over-the-top buffet...impossible to do all the activities that are offered here each day. Huge dining room that can be reserved for large family gatherings--worked great for a recent birthday. Stumbled on this place when looking at the memory care facility next door for elderly mother. Now we're close by her for frequent visits, haven't missed our home of 37 years and give the Watermark our highest...
