What a great salon! It’s kind of tucked away in the south end, but you can certainly find it amongst the big industrial buildings. Kristen is the stylist who I worked with. She is incredible! She specializes in curly haircuts, although I’m sure she can do it all… I wanted to go to a curl specialist because it’s easy to mess up my cut, it’s my opinion that curls can be a little more complicated to work with than straight hair. Well, I went out on a limb this time and also decided to do something I have never done – – color my hair! I am the low maintenance type and the idea of having to keep up with color has never appealed to me, but I wanted to add a little drama as I’ve been with the same color hair for over 30 years, LOL. Well, I put my faith in Kristen, and I’m so glad I did! We did some low lights to add some reddish tones to my already strawberry blonde hair. It looks excellent, absolutely natural, but it does add a bit of drama and interest to my hair color. Kristen is very easy-going and fun, the time spent with her passed incredibly quickly even though the appointment took about 2 hours due to the complexity of the cut and color. She is a master stylist as well as colorist, she cut my hair precisely and was not formulaic – – she absolutely stuck to what I asked for which was simply a bit off the ends and to stay true to my slight layers. Altogether, I am extremely satisfied with my experience at Honey&Comb. The salon itself is very bright and airy, feels completely clean and is very stylish, while at the same time being homey enough to make you feel very comfortable. Their website is great, super easy to navigate and they are very easy to make an appointment with. If you’re looking for a stylist with a great personality and excellent skills, I suggest Kristen. Make Honey&Comb your next stop when you have any hair needs whatsoever! You won’t be...
Read moreI discovered Kristin many years ago (5? 6? 7? I'm not even sure, it's been a while!) when I was searching for Deva curly cut certified stylists in Boston. At the time, she was working at a different salon. I stuck with her when she opened Honey & Comb because she is great at what she does. I go to her monthly for my balayage and root touch ups and get cuts three or four times a year. She understands naturally curly hair - how to cut it, how to color it, and how to style it. Sometimes I have her blow dry my hair straight, which is not an easy task. She's also very honest about when I need new balayage or if I could just get by with the roots. I think what I like most about Kristin, however, is that she's constantly trying to stay up to speed on the latest trends, products, and techniques. She loves trying out new products on herself and seems to always be taking some kind of continuing education class or learning a new skill. Opening your own small business is a major accomplishment, but having a successful small business is an even greater accomplishment. She has been successful because she is talented, hardworking, and just an all-around nice person. Also, the microsalon is super cute and if you don't like loud, busy, large salons, this is a perfect place for you. It's also typically quite easy to find parking right along Albany Street, which is about a 2 minute walk from the salon....
Read moreI went in for a full head of highlights with Kristin. I left with wet hair, and when my hair dried and I got home I realized I had highlights of all different lengths going on along my root. You'll see from the pictures I attached that the highlights near the bottom (front of my head) are closer to the root. Then toward the back of my head (top of photo) the highlights have significantly more distance from the root. I went to another salon shortly after leaving Honey & Comb to get a partial highlight just to fix the to get the back of my part. The salon I went to was shocked in the unevenness of the highlights in my hair. Until I got it fixed, it was very weird to be walking around with normal highlights on the front and just a patch of dark on the back of my head. I had a great experience there, but because of the end result,...
