The face on my Swiss Army Dive Master watch started rotating inside the watch body a year or two after owning it. Given that this was a $1000 watch meant for "diving" and rugged use, I expected this repair to be covered under warranty. However it was not. I was pretty upset about this because they quoted me a repair that was going to cost around $120.
When speaking with the technician, I asked the question several different times and several different ways if there was any way to fix the problem by reattaching the anti-rotation pin to the face. He said, absolutely NO! The ONLY way to restore original function was the complete repair. During the process they also tried to upsell replacing the battery with an additional $30 (approx) charge for resealing the watch (in addition to the quoted complete repair price). Don't you have to reseal the watch anyway when you replace the face for $120????
I took my watch to a local watch shop my home town and they told me the following: 2: options: weld the pin back on to the face using a special machine or just use double stick tape. The double stick tape is not an ideal solution, but should last a decent amount of time. and get this: REPAIR COST $15!!!!!!!!! For that price, I could bring the watch back for "resticking" every other year for the next 16 years for the cost they wanted just to replace the face! Remember, you need to get these watches serviced every few years anyway to get batteries replaced.
Based on this subsequent experience with the local shop, what the technician told me was incorrect. First, there ARE machines that can fix the problem. Second, there are multiple solutions - even if they are "not perfect". Matheus may argue that this will void the warranty or perhaps the repair may only last 5 years. Knowing that I am a price conscious and very practical customer, they should have presented me with those options along with the consequences of choosing a "less than perfect" option. Remember, they need to disassemble and put a new batteries in these watches every few years so who cares if the double stick tape does not last forever?
This isn't the only time that I have had a negative experience with this shop. A few years ago they tried to charge me for a reseal on a repair that was covered under warranty. They did make it right, but I had to call them out on it.
In conclusion, SHOP AROUND. My suspicion was later confirmed by talking with the technicians at a local shop. Sorry guys, you lost my business!!!! Better...
Read moreElizabeth is one of the nicest sales people I've met. She was very patient and was not in any hurry to show me the plethora of rings I wanted to look at and try on. I love her because she loves jewelry as well. She enjoys working there and she enjoys trying to figure out what you might like. She does not pressure you to buy anything. I saw a few rings I was considering getting. I had to think about it overnight because they were not cheap. But Elizabeth had a great idea. She had me take pictures of the rings and the tags. If I should change my mind, I could order it from her and she could mail it to me and I would not have to pay for the sales tax because I am not in Colorado. What a great way to save some extra money. At the end, I did purchase quite an expensive ring. But I was very pleased because again, they were not a high pressure sales store. I am having the ring mailed to me so I will avoid sales tax. It will be...
Read moreThis is the worst watch shop I’ve visited so far. I left my watch to see if it could be fixed and they said they’d have to sent it to the factory to get it checked out so they can give an estimated price for the service (took them 1 month). The price to repair it was too high (almost $400) considering it is a tissot and I decided to decline the repair. They said they should have the watch in the next shipment which was a week from the day I called. It took them 5 more weeks to get the watch back at the shop. When I showed up to pick up my watch I noticed that the chronograph dials were not adjusted as you can see in the photo (My watch didn’t have that problem when I left it) so I asked them if they could fix it. They didn’t show interest in solving the problem and never did. I still had to pay $35 for shipping. All this wait just to get my watch in a worse condition. Not going there again, waste of...
