I had two negative experiences at this place dealing with the staff. First my sister went to purchase a toy for her son and they didn't know how much it was so my mom (who had purchased the exact toy a couple hours earlier) said how much she paid and the owner came in and said it was $2 MORE than what my mom paid so clearly they don't know what's going on. My second experience was when I had my 3 children and my niece in the store and my 4 year old was crying loudly about not being able to buy a toy there, I was trying to console him while trying to get my other 4 year old to put back his toy so he wouldn't steal it. The woman working there kept saying passive aggressive things to my crying son THEN the owner approached me and told me I had to take my crying son out and I explained I was trying and I had several kids with me he "offered" to wait outside with my crying 4YEAR OLD! Ya right! So I quickly took my kids out then the woman told my sister that we didn't all have to leave, just my crying son. eye roll. IF you dont want to deal with crying kids...DONT CARRY CHILDRENS TOYS IN YOUR STORE!!! STAFF IS SO RUDE, condescending and passive aggressive! We visit Breck multiple times a year for months at a time and I will NEVER step foot in...
Read moreExtensive and elaborate: if you are looking for a mineral shop in the Colorado mountains, this is a premiere place to go. The great show pieces, including enormous amethysts and parrots carved from crystals, as well as actual dinosaur bones, are a little out of my price range, but they are wondrous to look at. This is not technically a museum, but it is the best museum in Breckenridge nonetheless: a thrilling place to admire the majestic works of nature. There are more reasonably priced goods here, elegant souvenirs and mementos that are not as fancy or elaborate but are beautiful nonetheless and are worth examining, such as the teeth of prehistoric sharks. My favorite objects here are ornate globes wherein different countries are made with different kinds of gemstones, and the sphere looks ethereal when touched by light. Anyone who has even a passing interest in rocks, gemstones, or the prehistoric past...
Read moreFirst-time shopper here. This is a really fun shop jam-packed with great quality crystals and fossils in all shapes and sizes. There are MUCH larger pieces sold here, as well, so if you're looking for something more substantial you'll be covered. There are a TON of unusual raw stones, too. The prices range from $.50 to the $1,000's. I got a super colorful Bumblebee Jasper heart for $21; most places sell them for $45 and up. All prices are pretty reasonable which I very much appreciate. 😊 The store is family-owned, and the staff is great!
I live in Denver and am pretty picky about which rock and crystal shops I like, and I'm really excited to come back up and explore the store some more....
