I was unsure, at first. Service was really slow, but that itself is OK because, we came to learn that our server was just a little different. She had sunglasses with one temple tucked into the neck of her shirt, the rest hanging in front of her. As she bent over to put glasses of lemonade onto our table, her sunglasses tilted forward and dunked right into my glass of water. As she stood up, the glasses popped out and I believe she had no clue what had just happened.
My kids and wife ordered the lemonade. I ordered an ODoul's NA beer. I waited and waited, she finally came by the table to take our food order. I asked her about the ODouls and she laughed, saying, we don't sell any non-alcoholic beer. I don't mind them not having NA beer, though the ODoul's was on the menu, what I didn't understand is why she didn't informed me when she found there was no ODoul's so that I could change my beverage order right away - we have already established I wasn't going to drink from my water cup. Again, no big deal, I ordered a lemonade.
The food began to arrive. The chili cheese fries are simply, and in a word, awesome. They were perfect - sticky and gooey and full of cheese, but not that nasty cheese that seeps oil when it's nuked. The quality of the decedent delight was perfect.
We then had three hamburgers arrive, one for each of my kids and one for my wife. I ordered the fish tacos. The food was a conversation stopper. We all just started eating. My daughter said multiple times that the guacamole on her burger was Devine. My son had a double patty burger, which was huge. He spoke no words through the entire consumption process, finally to emerge smiling and exclaimed, "Wow, that was good". My wife would take a bit of her burger, say she was full, then take another bite. This process repeated until her entire burger was gone. I ate two of my three tacos, enjoying each flavor-filled, juicy bite. I would have eaten the third but it was my mission to not let those chili cheese fries go to waste. The fish taco made it back home and will be enjoyed while playing a game a Mahjong with the family.
Full, pleased and smiling, it was time to pay the bill. The waitress came back to the table, she reached out a piece of paper toward me, as if for me to grab it. As I reach to grab the paper, she had already turned away, as if to scurry to her next appointed round. In doing so, she released her grip on the chit before I had the change to accepted into my own, now, grease mitt. I watched as the bill slowly flutter, end over end, to the dark under regions of our table. As I leaned forward to gab the fallen check, I look back at her and wondered two things: had she even known she dropped the check and into how many other water cups had she cleaned her sunglasses.
Anyway, as we left, the entire family said, "We have got to come back here again". I laughed to myself and full heartedly agreed.
Well deserving of...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would and I’m never this harsh. My husband, son and I walk In and there’s very few people in the actual restaurant, we go up to the host and he looks up from his phone, asks how many, grabs menus and walks over to a table without addressing us again. He throws the menus, genuinely throws them, on the table and walks away which already set a negative tone but we sat down and started looking at the menu. We ordered drinks and food at the same time, unfortunately I was on a strict diet because of breastfeeding our son so I had to order a plain burger with a gluten free bun, wasn’t expective anything spectacular but when it came out, the bun was hard/stale and definitely not gluten free (didn’t even ring up on the receipt as gluten free) and the burger was overcooked to the point where the beef was crumbing and completely unseasoned. Everything else we ordered, French fries and tater tots, were extremely overcooked as well. Our server, who was the host never checked on us and we had to flag him down to get the check so we could just leave. Extremely disappointing given how positive most of the reviews are, not to mention if someone mentions allergy or dietary restrictions, they shouldn't have to question that what they're eating is safe. Definitely...
Read moreCame here for late lunch yesterday. This was our 3d time to Empire over a period of 5 years during visits to Breckenridge. Previous experience was much better. Yesterday we both ordered the Empire classic burger ...cut Mayo on both. We ordered fries and onion rings also. Our burgers came out very quickly considering the time it normally takes to cook a 1l3 lb burger. Both were dressed with mayo...so back to the kitchen they went. When I finally took my first bite I sensed the fresh burger meat was precooked and thrown under a heat lamp to keep warm until ordered up...the meat was warm, not hot as one would expect for a fresh cooked burger. This confirmed why the burgers came to the table so quickly. The size of burger meat was generous but much to large for the smaller brioche bun that fell apart before we were able to finish the burger. It would have been more manageable with just a little less lettuce. On another note the onion rings, fresh cooked and hot were great...not greasy. The fries were just so so and had probably been sitting under the lamp for awhile. Sorry Empire, our expectations were a let down this...
