Unfortunately we had a bad experience that ended in tears for my 11 year old daughter. The toys sold here are marketed more toward collectors than kids. Comparable toys can be found for way less at typical thrift stores. Understanding this, my daughter didn't want to pay $5-10 for an LPS toy. The owner kept asking her how much money she had (which is none of his business and unprofessional). He offered her a discounted price which was still higher than she was used to paying and she had to really think about it. She decided to accept the offer and then found one more in a totally different area that she wanted to add to her purchase. When he learned she "had" more money, he scolded her because his previous offer was based on the assumption that that was all the money she had to spend. I calmly defended that she wasn't trying to be deceptive. She felt so shocked an attacked that she just stood there trying not to cry and not knowing what to do. We decided to pass and walk away because I felt the owner was so mean to my daughter. She got in the car and started balling. She went in so happy and excited and was even willing to pay more than she normally would and left feeling insulted and empty handed. Verdict - I don't recommend taking your kids to this...
Read moreJoe's Emporium has a lot of nice quality antiques and vintage items. However, he is an extremely rude man. He is not interested in how he can help you. We have done business with Joe a few different times. One time in particular we sold him about $200 worth of antiques and he only paid us $40. Once we left we headed to a jeweler to get my wedding ring sized. I realized I had left my engagement/wedding ring set in the box with the antiques by mistake. We immediately turned around and went back. He told us he no longer had the box of antiques there and he would look when he got to where it was. He never called me to let me know either way. It came down to my word against the shiftiest man in Caldwell's. I would recommend you really look around before buying anything from Joe. He overprices everything. Please don't sell him anything...you will NOT get a...
Read moreWhen he first left me a poor review I didn't even know who he was. Then I realized he was the man who "shamed" me for bringing business to the Treasure Valley. Since we help the community by giving vendor opportunities to lots of people struggling financially or perhaps stay at home Mom's, cottage businesses, etc. we have been welcomed with open arms by most. He told me he "Didn't appreciate us taking business from the area", which is the exact opposite of what we do. Our vintage shows bring opportunity for individuals to earn money and also a chance for shop owners to promote their own businesses. Everyone else sees and appreciates this. Too bad he can't. I went in with good intentions simply to see if he would put a poster up and I was...
