Big Chill — Local services in Charlotte

This review is overdue, but I can’t rave enough about The Big Chill, and can’t speak highly enough of the team there. My husband and I got married on June 6th, and worked with Mekenzie and Kaley. While planning in the midst of a pandemic was super stressful, Mekenzie and team kept us informed of any changes with the venue and CDC guidelines for our guests. Mekenzie kept us so organized prior to our wedding. We had meetings, phone calls, and in-person tours of the venue. It confidently made us know that we were in good hands. I could write a book about how easily our special day flowed, and how wonderful it was working with Mekenzie. You can tell she and the folks at The Big Chill really take pride in their work, and truly are passionate planners. They had a list of vendors they’d worked with, and a list of things to consider if I ever got lost about what was next for planning, or if I forgot something on my ever increasing list! Mekenzie was our Day-of coordinator. To anyone planning a wedding or event, do not skip out on hiring a Day-Of coordinator! I cannot stress this enough! Mekenzie helped us to know when to be ready after hair/makeup etc., when it was time to walk down the aisle, when we would be presented as husband and wife to our family and friends, when it was time for photos, special dances, greeting guests, cake cutting, dancing, departure, etc. She walked us through the flow of the evening a few times prior to our day to make sure we were all on the same page, where everyone would be standing, who would walk in when, etc., and she was flexible if any last minute changes needed to be made. She personally contacted and worked with the vendors we’d chosen for flowers, decorations, and cake delivery, and also our photographer and videographer. She worked with my Mom who had a surprise up her sleeve for our day, which was a photo booth for guests (GREAT SURPRISE AND INVESTMENT! I look at the pictures and notes guests left for us often!). On our wedding day, she even made sure we sat down and ate! The day went by at such a slow pace that we were able to take everything in, and not worry about anything at all because of Mekenzie. I have no idea of the amount of behind-the-scenes work she did, but she was OUTSTANDING! We were So Well taken care of! I look back just a few months later, and am so grateful to have worked with The Big Chill. I cannot thank them enough, especially Mekenzie for being so kind, gracious, organized, and wonderful to us. We have such great memories of our special day because of her! We wish her and The Big Chill nothing but much continued success in the future. We really had the best team and beautiful venue! I don't recommend this place to anyone who is Hispanic. I called on 6/5/18 and gave all the detail information to the receptionist for the Quinceañera Event that I was planning for my daughter for Memorial weekend 2019. She wrote down all my information and was going to transfer me to speak to the event planner but came back to the line and said that she is working on another event at that present time. The receptionist said that she will give her my message and have her call me in the morning the following day and will send me the pricing with all the details to my email.

On 6/6/2018 afternoon I called again and told the receptionist that I never received an email or a call from anyone. She said that she has the message in front of her and will pass it along. (At this point I'm thinking, did she not ever give her the message? Hmmm) I said Ok, when will I hear from her because I want to set a time to go see the place? She said that by the following morning I will get a call from her.

As a customer I felt that she was avoiding me in not renting the location for a quinceañera event.

It's 6/21 and they never gave me a call or sent...

I was working alongside of the big chill in order to Butrus, another business event that I had going on, and let me tell you, Mckenzie and her staff are absolutely out of control in terms of detail, precision, poise, and audacity, as well as the construction of events. If you’re looking to design an event specific for you, look No further, and except no substitute. This staff has the creativity level Of Albert Einstein. Their ability to cater to specific needs in terms of vegetarian cuisine, gluten/sticky, protein, free cuisine, vegan cuisine, homestyle taste of Carolinas cuisine… or any other for that matter; The possibilities are endless. Their chef and sous chef are absolute Renaissance men when it comes to specific cuisines. There are literally no amenities they are uncomfortable with providing. You’ll never regret the call; so do it!!!
