I can't say enough great things about Onyx — I tried pretty much every pilates class in the River North area and this is the one I decided to get a membership with and I can’t recommend them enough. Onyx helped me follow through on my 2024 new year’s resolution to find a consistent workout routine. (the classes are motivating & gave me a workout I actually looked forward to)!
The instructors at Onyx are incredible — every single one of them is not only fantastic at guiding you through the exercises but also takes the time to offer helpful corrections to improve your form. They do the workout with you, so you're never alone, and their energy makes each class enjoyable and manageable while still pushing you to challenge yourself. Plus, the vibe is super positive and welcoming—there’s zero judgment, which makes it such a great environment to really focus on your fitness goals. The music is great; and they also do themed classes and unique things like reformer pilates by the Lake so there’s also something fun to try out.
The heated studio is plus too — the heat really helps you break a sweat and get the most out of your session. But on days when you’re not feeling like a heated class, there are also non-heated options available.
If you're looking for a place that will motivate you & challenge you (even if you’re a beginner to reformer pilates) — definitely check out Onyx! Can’t thank the folks at Onyx enough for helping me achieve my fitness goals in 2024 and I’m excited to watch their business...
Read moreI absolutely love coming to this studio! The instructors each bring their own style, but they’re all knowledgeable, encouraging, and great at offering modifications so everyone can get the most out of class.
The class formats are well thought out—you can find everything from strength-focused to more cardio-driven options, and the playlists are usually on point (nothing like a good song to push you through those last few reps!). The equipment is in great condition, and having showers available is a huge bonus for anyone heading to work or errands right after.
That said, my biggest con is the layout of the reformers. Depending on your height and where you’re positioned, some movements are hard to do fully without bumping into a wall, a stack of weights, or the person next to you. They also recently got a phone number, which is great because it was a big inconvenience not having one before. Lastly, the credit card fee feels a bit high.
Overall, though, this studio offers amazing workouts, a friendly community, and instructors who truly care. Highly recommend checking it out if you want to be challenged and feel...
Read moreCame in 1 minute BEFORE the class started and they still wouldn’t let me in when it was 5 degree weather to come there. Waste of time and literally does not align with their policy. If you need people to come 15 minutes before, start the class 15 minutes before. The class hadn't even started when I came in and the front desk girls were super unhelpful. Not coming back here.
Edit: I told the front desk girl this one NOT my first time here. Just first time through a ClassPass account. So that should not affected me being let in. You being defensive in your response and claiming I’m unfairly reviewing a small business instead of taking responsibility is exactly why I’m not retuning. Also please don’t compare yourself to other studios because I’ve had ClassPass for over a year and no other studio has ever turned me away - studios like corepower, yoga box, amplified pilates, etc always allow you to come in right...
