Couldn’t have been happier with the family fishing day with Derek and DJ. I was pumped that the family vote for our special excursion was to go on a fishing charter. A big priority was to make sure the kids made great memories and it couldn’t have been a better experience. They put us on the fish and between the three spots we tried today we hammered the Spanish Mackerel at each. The wind was a little strong today otherwise I have little doubt we would have found the kingfish as well. It was great conversation with both of these guys. They have kids similar ages as mine (7,11,13) so they definitely didn’t need any heads up on what we were looking for, they get it. Derek talked about his philosophy around not taking kids out in any conditions he wouldn’t take his kids on. He wants kids to like fishing

My dad and I had an amazing half day trip out on the water yesterday with High Tide Saltwater Charters. For only a 4 hour trip, we were constantly on the fish. Captain Derek knew exactly where to put us to keep us catching throughout the entire morning and Buss, the deckhand, worked great with managing multiple fish on multiple lines at once. After a few hours of consistently nailing mackerel, Derek recommended we try to go for something big with the last bit of our trip. After relocating, it took only a few minutes before hooking up and landing a large Barracuda 2-3x the size of the mackerel we’d been catching. Just before finishing up, as I reeled in the bait, we saw a large fish tracking the bait toward the boat. Captain recommended dropping the bait back down and sure enough we hooked up moments later with a large (~5 foot) black tip shark. On relatively light tackle, we then fought this shark for 2 hours before landing it - well beyond our 1/2 day trip time. It turned out to be like a 6 hour trip! The experienced and knowledgeable crew made for a great day on the water!...

Can’t say enough about captain Derek and my experience with High Tide Charters! We wanted to go grouper fishing and the Capt didn’t disappoint! After a comfortable ride out to the first spot we dropped our lines and caught some big red grouper. We ended up catching our limit of red grouper and a variety of other bonus snappers, all good eating. It was one of the best fishing trips I have ever been on. when we returned to the dock we were able to bring the fish that captain derek filleted for us to the restaurant located just feet from the boat to be cooked up for dinner!
