I went there the first week of October 2024. I was requested to wait for assistance by Mister Jordan. The male assisted 3 people before me, which took him 45 minutes. He was very attentive to each person. There was a black lady he helped her step by step to fill out the paperwork. When my turn comes, the person gives me 4 papers and said, "Fill it on the sticky notes. Which information goes where it wasn't explained. My attempt to ask I was indicated to sit and do it. I tried my best, which was guessing as I was not a lawyer. Mister Jordan requested me to wait again on the lineafter, other people who arrived after me. I wasn't equally treated as the black lady before me. The person wanted to get rid of me as fast as possible. I feel not welcome and not comfortable. The mister Jordan sent me to the wrong room, I don't know if he did it because he lacked knowledge or because he wanted me to get back to him and wait again. I waited on the line in front of the wrong filing room, where I was given additional paper, which Mister Jordan should have been provided earlier. After filling it out, we discovered that I couldn't file there, and I was sent to a different filing room, where I waited on the line again. Finally, at this line, there was a very kind and educated black lady. With her help, we discovered that the indications of mister Jordan weren't correct. The document had many errors, which the lady helped me to correct with corrector. This was the only none discriminatory and respectful interaction I had in this court. This week, I called in order to ask about how the court procedure works. If I file motion , how to fine and how not to file. The first woman hung up the phone 3 times. The 4th time, exactly the same women said, hold on for my manager. The woman spoke together with me, interrupted me, and told me:"You need legal advice !" I keep repeating that I am not asking her what to do, I like to know about the court procedures, which should be standard for everyone. The woman was aggressive and refused to listen to me. She was so aggressive and disrespectful that she brought me to cry. While I was crying and asking her to stop, she told me:"Stop playing a victim!" The women keep aggressoring and intimidating me until I told her that I am recording the conversation, and I intend publishing it on YouTube. Only she's stopped aggressoring me and responded to my few questions in regards to court procedures. I wanted to file a complaint for disrespectful and discriminatory behavior. The women aggresor me and refused to accept my complaint with the institution, DO YOU HAVE IDEA WHAT IS DISCRIMINATION! I was accused of being disrespectful and attacked verbally by the telephone representative. My questions were ignored the first 4 calls, and the rep kept hanging up the phone on me. I wanted to complain, but in court, they believed that this is respectful and none discriminatory, and my attempt to complain was aggressively silenced. I wanted to know about the motion of dismissing or closing the case. But as they are so aggressive, I am scared of going to court physically. They know what my name , my address, and if I go there, I am afraid to be abused and attack further. So I am not going to file any motion ouf of fear. I feel physically scared to face some of those obviously not very healthy ladies. This is a very discriminatory and unsafe environment. Filing complaints aren't going to be allowed if you try like I did you are going to be silenced, treaten and your complaint will not be taken seriously. The manager openly attached me, calling me ignorant, telling me you have no idea what discrimination is. The manager mocked me and lough on me while I requested her and begging her to stop abusing me. If you have to go there, don't go alone, this is not a safe environment. If you call and you are a person who has an accent, it is likely to be treated with the utmost hostility, hate, and disrespect. I advise you to ask someone else to call, who is native speaker, just to avoid...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in the character of the police department. Instead of police officers they appear to simply be on a sales team hitting their monthly quota. I just moved here and when driving out from my apartment, I fell in a speed trap which crazily enough police offers were just walking into the street waving cars over which was confusing enough- they looked like construction workers pausing traffic. Apparently the city thinks its appropriate to create speed traps on streets where in one direction its 25 mph and in the other its 35 mph. I rarely had driven the other direction on this road and didnt realize it was a slower speed from the other lane ( which by the way, PLEASE give me a logically supported explanation as to why the exact same street but different direction is a slower speed ESPECIALLY when its going down a hill so the momentum of the half ton vehicles we drive in combination with gravity forces you to go over 25mph unless you're hitting your brakes most of the way down. and Please explain why this wasn't a warning if you were going to have this trivial speed trap. Just building the appearance that it is in fact a money trap. It cost me not just points on my records, but $160, literally 2 days worth of work in my life, for something that makes ZERO sense, and at the bare minimum should have been a warning if you were in fact simply peace officers concerned about the safety... GIANT fail in any kind of trust in the justice system. Its pathetic use of tax dollars and peace...
Read moreI've been filing my first small claims case and have found that the civil court division runs quite smoothly and employs many helpful clerks. I mean, how many other people regularly use white-out to correct your legal forms for you like they do? I'm pretty sure you have to pay an attorney an incredible amount for that level of help. I think people need to remember that the clerks are not attorneys themselves. You still have to be well familiar with the law when you arrive. I referred to the Small Claims Handbook for Non-Attorneys and it was a huge help. I was responsible for knowing that, not the clerk. But they are polite and helpful despite a bit of pushback from me. So yeah, 5-stars.... many government offices are not run this well.
Big note for people reading this: DO NOT send summons via registered mail. For some reason it can be delivered and the defendant still does not have to show up to court. I don't know why, even the judge doesn't seem to know why, but he did say "these almost never work." So this seems to be an option just to confuse lower level petitioners in civil court. Use the sheriff's office for the county you are serving your defendant in to...
