J.R.'s Pizza Place — Local services in Fairplay

We were in FairPlay, Co and multiple locals recommended this little pizza place. When pulling into the parking lot there is all the amazing pizza smells. This little food truck is producing pizzas from one oven and everyone in town says it's worth the wait. The locals are friendly and people are hanging out waiting for their pizza to be ready in the local grocery store parking lot. We ordered a 14" Hot Honey Pizza (Double pepperoni, extra cheese and hot honey) and All Meat Calzone. The crust is fantastic. It is light and crispy. It holds the toppings and does not bend. The pizza was well balanced with toppings to crust. The red sauce is very flavorful. The calzone is made traditionally without red sauce. They use real ricotta and mozzarella inside the calzone. The cheese with the crunchy crust is the real star of this calzone. The meat inside was well cooked and did not take over the calzone. It was the best calzone we have ever eaten. I'm very confused by all the 5 star reviews. Not sure if we came on a bad day but the pizza was just not good. I ordered a 10 inch hot honey and it was kind of a floppy grease pile even though we ate it right away. I love a greasy New York style pizza but you need a strong chewy crust to hold up. The crust I got was very soft and bland and had zero chew to it, so it had no chance of holding up to the amount of sauce and cheese on top. I would highly recommend coming here! Delicious pizza with a beautiful view! Their pizza was incredibly fresh and made perfectly. Their crust was to die for and so was the cheese bread.
