SUPER AWKWARD. Y'all really need to work on your service. Hostess downstairs barely greeted us, acted like she hated her job and we were an inconvenience.
Upstairs at the hostess stand the three employees behind the desk refused to greet us even though I walked up and made eye contact with every one of them. Finally a server who came from the back of the restaurant greeted us, but had a lot of difficulty finding a table for our group of 7 because she thought we were a group of 6.
This was after she had already grabbed menus and we were starting to follow her, but she left us to go back to the hostess stand while she walked away to look through the restaurant for a table despite two options being available right in front of us. We also had to ask multiple times and wait for like 15 minutes for a high chair.
Then comes the server. The language barrier definitely made it difficult. We have a daughter who has a gluten sensitivity and we asked what gluten free options they had for her, and he recommended the kids chicken strips, which obviously aren't gluten free because they're dredged in flour. After pointing that out, he said he didn't know what was gluten free and he'd have to ask the kitchen.
After coming back, he said the only option was a burger with a gluten free bun. I then asked if they could do cheese nachos since they had a BBQ nacho appetizer on the menu already that had corn chips. It took me asking three different times and three different ways with him making two trips to the kitchen to understand what I was asking and to confirm that in fact they could do that.
He then forget to refill our drinks (iced tea and lemonade) after we had to ask for them and then attempted much later to come over and refill these same glasses with water.
Not to mention the food took an hour to come out, came out at different times, and was very mediocre. Sauces were limited and not great, brisket that I was upcharged for was very overcooked and very over seasoned. The beans had numerous whole slices of peach in them (very strange), and the fries were straight up from frozen.
When the bill came we were charged $18 for my child's cheese nachos and when I paid I left a thumbs down and cited service as the reason for doing so. No sooner had I set the card reader down than an employee promptly arrived at our table, no introduction or anything, and said she came over because she understood we submitted a bad review.
Super awkward, super confrontational. She never asked about our experience, how we felt about the food or service, just basically saying why did you give us a bad review. So I explained that the service left a lot to be desired but tried to downplay the experience to diffuse the tension and awkwardness.
All that said, they didn't offer anything to remedy the situation or experience, not even an apology.
We'll never be back and suggest you...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I have been a huge Myron Mixon fan and follower for many, many years. I was so looking forward to this visit and had planned it with my family for my birthday dinner. I'll give 1 star for SOME of the food and 1 for our server, Aylin. She was very nice and I think she did the best she could with what she had. I'll start with the positives. Decor was cool and the place seemed clean. We got the family feast. Brisket, potato salad, jalapeño cheddar sausage, wings, pulled chicken, and sweet potatoes were awesome. Ribs had good flavor but were on the dry side. Which unfortunately leads me to the negatives. Right off the bat, the restaurant is upstairs, and the elevator was out of order. I am currently recovering from a serious Achilles tendon injury, just got out of a cast and shouldn't be doing stairs for another several weeks. Not having accessibility for the lesser able-bodied folks was hugely disappointing to me. Next, the AC was also not working. It was very uncomfortable and it was hard to enjoy our meal. The staff also expressed that it's been broken for a week and you could tell it was affecting them having to work like that in an upstairs location in very humid almost 90 degree heat. The green beans and baked beans were a fail. The cole slaw had ok flavor but it was overshadowed by the massive amount of mayonnaise in it. The corn bread was so dry and flavorless. The pickled veggies and pickled eggs tasted like they were not pickled at all. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our drinks. Our food came before our drinks. When the bartender did finally get behind the bar, he had zero sense of urgency and seemed more concerned about socializing than getting drinks out. We all ordered the Boss Hog Bloody Mary for $25 each. When they finally arrived, the flavor was just ok. The drink comes with a skewer of pickled egg, brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and candied bacon. The sausage and brisket on these skewers were so dried out, like they had been sitting out for days. Two of us pulled out our skewers and had hair on the food. We did only tell the server about one of them because I don't like to send things back and one of the drinks was mine. She was very apologetic and went to tell the bartender. His attitude and body language about it were not what they should have been. He seemed annoyed and like he could care less. The manager did take the drink off of our bill and was also very apologetic, he was very nice. Overall, I certainly expected so much more from a Myron Mixon establishment. The good things were great, but unfortunately the negative things far overshadowed them. I don't think my family and I will...
Read moreMy husband had waited for months for us to go the hour-and-a-half drive to Myron Mixon's in Gatlinburg. I've never seen him so excited 😊 When we first walked in, Myron was there taking pictures with some patrons, and my husband said to me, he's here! Needless to say, he immediately had to go talk to Mr. Mixon and have me take a photo. Myron walked around and interacted with the patrons the entire time we were there, asking how the food was. Which brings me to the meal. My husband had the ribs, smoked sausage, beans and potato salad, and cornbread. I had pulled pork, slaw and fries. My granddaughter had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and green beans. For dessert, my husband and I shared the banana pudding. I must say, everything I ate was absolutely delicious. My husband raved about the meat. I am a baked bean girl, and the peach baked beans were, in my opinion, the best part of the meal. My son was also with us, and he has some sensory issues, so he normally doesn't eat anything when we go out because he has his certain preferred foods. We didn't think he would find anything on the menu since the fries were seasoned. But our waitress went above and beyond to accommodate him. The cook made him a special order of fries with no seasoning. I thought that was very nice! My granddaughter has Crohns and our waitress was also very considerate of her food allergies, and made sure to check with the cook on that as well. I felt very taken care of by our waitress, and I was appreciative of her! There is a guy there who walks around and asks if he can take your picture, then has an area in the corner where he prints the photos off and gives you a complimentary copy, but of course he shows you others he took and gives you the option to purchase them all. We spent 55 dollars on photos! That was extra from the meal, which was on the expensive side. Altogether we spent about 175 dollars for food, photos and the tip. My husband wanted to buy a 20 dollar shirt, but they were out of his size. So all in all, the food and the service are both exceptional, the place is neat and clean, and accommodating for kids with food sensitivities, but it is expensive. It is also worth noting that there is a huge stairwell you have to climb to get to the restaurant, so keep that in mind as well if you're not able...
