Service started ok. We sat down, got our first round of drinks pretty quick. After that, it was all downhill. We walked in at dinner time. We had to flag the bartender over from his conversation with other employees in order to ask for a food menu. Something that should have been offered when we first sat At minimum, any decent bartender at least asks if we wanted to see a food menu. Nope, not this guy. The gathering of fellow employees was far more important. We were the only ones seated at the bar. An occasional person would walk up and ask for a drink. Again, when it came time to order food, we had to wave to get his attention from the gossip session. We waiting quite a while to give him a chance to do his job on his own. But that didn't work. When my first drink emptied, I placed the empty in the well of the bar. Any other bar I have been to, that is a universal symbol that it is empty, and would like a refill. Nope. Not this guy. He looked down several times. He even walked past it twice, and looked right at it. The other bartenders also walked right past the empty in the well, looking right at it. One stood just off to the side of it for a minute while she played on her phone. It was only the bartender that eventually brought us our food, that threw the empty away. When she asked if we needed anything else, I had to ask for another. What kind of bartender throws away an empty, and does not ask if you want a refill? When we finished our food, we moved the empty dishes to the front of the bar. After nearly 15 minutes, a different bartender walked by and asked if she could take them. Food was done, drinks were done, but we just sat there again while the staff all yapped at the far end of the bar, and played on their phones. After quite some time, I was able to get the attention of our original bartender, and get our check. The service was poor enough that it took away from the food. The food really was not bad at all. My wife enjoyed hers, and mine was just as expected for a bar Philly. But damn,,, the service was off. Especially since it was anything except busy while...
Read moreWe really did not have a good experience here. We walked in and there were only 2 other tables full. No one acknowledged us so we just sat down at a table. We saw a waitress talking to the people at the other tables. So we waited for about 15 minutes. Then we went up to the bar and ordered drinks. We got our drinks at sat back down. 2 other tables got filled during this time. A waitress came and talked to both of those tables. She gave them menus and took their orders. No one ever gave us a menu and we continued to be ignored. My friend got up and went to the bar and asked for a menu. The bartender pointed towards where they were and told her she could get them herself. So she grabbed some menus and we were still ignored. At this point, people who had came in after us had received their food. I went up to the bar and said "can I just order up here because no one has even checked on us". The bartender then tried to tell me that no one was being served at their tables and everyone had to order both food and drinks at the bar after 7 pm. Except we had gotten there before 7 pm and people who came in after us (after 7 pm) were being served and we had heard the waitress taking their order. The bartender tried to argue with me about it. I just placed my order and went back to the table. The food came out pretty quick and was okay. I had chicken pot pie but the carrots and celery were undercooked. The top of it was puff pastry and not a pie crust. It was a huge portion though and I think it would have been good if fully cooked. The karaoke was alright which is why it received 2 stars instead of 1. The person running the karaoke was fun and those singing appeared to be having a blast. We will not be returning here since we were not treated like other customers were treated. I'm not sure if it was because we were young females or why we were treated the way we were. We wouldn't have had a problem with ordering at the bar if that's really what everyone else was doing. However, that was not the case at all. I think it was an excuse the bartender did as an attempt to keep...
Read moreFrom Aug. 2024 I went three nights in a row (Thurs-Sat). Got the mozzarella sticks one night (solid) and ordered lots of shiner bock (also solid). I wanted a dark beer from Yehaw brewing that was on their chalkboard menu, but they were out. Nice place, lots of seating, comfortable, maybe a bit loud but that’s all good.
There was an incident: I asked the bartender for a Tom Collins. The bartender roller her eyes and said she can’t make one. She wouldn’t elaborate and we had to figure out what else to order. Then my dad ordered a martini, which he had gotten at this bar the night before, and the bartender said she can’t make a martini, and that she would only make a dirty martini. My dad said that’s not what he wanted and that he got what he wanted the previous night, but the bartender said it was either a dirty martini or nothing. So he got the dirty martini, and was only able for force a few sips down (not necessarily because it was a badly made dirty martini, but he just doesn’t like them) before he went back and complained due to it being an expensive drink. This review is saved because the person behind the bar made him a regular martini at no added cost and it was excellent. Bad initial bartender, excellent follow up / customer service.
From Aug. 2023 This place has a great beer selection and good bartenders & servers.
My group comes to this place for the karaoke. We were here on Thursday 8/3. The guy that was in charge of karaoke was awesome and we had a great time. He was nice and was great to all the people that wanted to do songs. Highly recommend him.
However, we came back Friday 8/4 and there was a girl in charge of karaoke that was absolutely terrible. She cut off the song requests 2 hours before close, played a number of filler songs, and let people that it seemed like she knew cut in line right when they came in right before close. We will likely leave immediately if we see her running karaoke....
