I live an hour and a half from the Greenville store so I called the day before I planned to visit to make sure an item (Carly bar stool) was in stock before driving there and was told it was being delivered later in the day. I called back after 5pm and was told it was at the store. I drove to Greenville the next day and the Carly stool was not in the store and the person I spoke with on the phone thought it was another stool with a similar name and offered no apology. I drove to Greenville specially to see the stool in person and knew it was for display only and they could order the chair. The bar stools were on their Labor Day sale ($418.60 for 2 plus tax $32.10) and I received a $59.80 ship promo savings (no charge for shipping) and I placed my order at the store. My credit card statement which includes the purchase from Ballard's shows a total $490.70 charge for the 2 bar stools. I called the sales person who placed my order and was told this was an additional shipping charge . This charge was not mentioned when I was paying for the chairs at the store.
This was a wasted trip to the Greenville Ballard store and a very disappointing experience. I hope my experience lets future shoppers know the Greenville store has limited merchandise to see and purchase and to make sure your have all charges including shipping explained before placing your order. The Ballard catalog offers a beautiful selection of quality products. I've ordered online in the past and will continue but won't be returning to the...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my experience at Ballard Designs. The staff was very helpful the day we purchased our new sectional and a 3-piece banquette set, and we were told to expect delivery by mid-September.
The first (and only) piece of the banquette showed up on August 27th. I thought it was odd that they’d deliver just part of a set, but assumed the rest was on its way. On September 11th, our sectional arrived in full—still no word on the remaining two pieces of the banquette.
The real frustration has been the lack of communication. During the 2.5-month wait, no one from Ballard reached out with updates. I had to call twice myself, and only then learned the rest of the banquette wouldn’t even ship until mid-October—nearly two months after the first piece was delivered and well over 3 months from when we ordered it.
When you spend this much money on furniture, you expect better customer service and proactive communication. Instead, I was left chasing updates and feeling like the follow-through just...
Read moreRead this before you order anything! I am giving Ballard designs a one, the new store is a showroom and what they charge for shipping is ridiculous Most everything in the store has to be ordered. There are a few things you could purchase. I bought drapes $45 to ship to me didn’t work 8.95 to ship them back , now I have $50 in shipping I do not get back. But then I think well I really like Ballard they have beautiful things so I buy another pair of drapes, are you keeping count, I’m at $75 for shipping sadly the off-white drapes that I bought are yellow Of course now I’m sending them back with an 8.95 charge. Bottom line Ballard made about $80 just on shipping, it is a scam as you don’t...
