My 4 year old car wouldn't start after being in storage for about 2 months on February 22nd. It had been connected to a Battery Tender. When I pushed the start button the dashboard lights went black. I knew that wasn't a good sign. AAA responded to my service call quickly and was able to get the car started with a small hand held device.
While I waited for AAA to arrive, thinking it was a bad battery which was confirmed by AAA service, I called several Lincoln City auto parts stores. The first call was beyond absurd. With a quote of over $700 for a replacement battery, which they didn't have in stock, and "because of the travel conditions from Seattle a, non guaranteed, delivery date of Friday March 3rd might be possible".
I called O'Reilly Auto Parts and spoke to Josh. He researched the battery, which he had in stock, and told me to drive to the store where he would test the battery before selling me a replacement. When I arrived at the store he treated me like I was his best friend, tested the battery and determined it was in fact the problem. His service went further. Josh installed the new battery without charge. I was in and out within 40 minutes. Express service for a customer he'd only spoken to on the phone. That's great customer service that was far more than I expected. It's also something I won't forget and I'll be telling people about it. Just like I'm doing now.
Thank you Josh and O'Reilly Auto Parts in Lincoln City,...
Read moreMark Blakney is an amazing employee and human being! My granddaughter and I were doing a favor for a friend by picking something up that was left at a vacation rental in Roads End. It was dark and raining and while we were looking for the house my driver’s side windshield wiper broke. I already have a hard time seeing in the dark especially when it’s raining add a broken wiper and I was stressed!! It was 8:45 and I had my daughter looked up O’Reilly’s and said they were open until 9. I called, explained that my wiper broke and asked if they would wait for me to get there. They explained that the computers automatically shut down at 9. I was struggling to see to make it there and was running out of time. I told my daughter I didn’t think I would make it. She called them not knowing that I had already called. She asked if there was any way they could help. They told her to tell me to just get there and they’d help me the best they could. When I pulled up at just after 9 Mark Blakney came running out, quickly switched my wiper blade while explaining that the computers already shut down but he put it on his account. I told him I’d come back the next day and pay for it and he told me it wasn’t necessary. I was so very grateful because I had to get all the way to Gleneden Beach!! You will always have my...
Read moreI own a 98 Dodge Ram 2500 - went in to get parts to do a set of drum brakes. Much to my surprise they carried a part in stock that isnt listed as fitting my truck - a bigger wheel cylinder for improved power in the rear brakes - I only know the napa part number 37337. I had planned to get the drums and shoes and hardware here, then go to napa for the wheel cylinder, turns out after a quick lookup, they had it, in stock. Not only that, but the gentleman at the counter recommended a spring tool on amazon that they dont carry - it helped my job out a lot compared to the spring tools usually used. Props to that guy for trying to help me with my job and not just recommending store products or saying the wheel cylinder wasnt listed as fitting my truck (cuz its not, but is a direct bolt in replacement). He was helpful and even gave my girlfriend the exact stuff i sent her there to get while i worked on the job (she didnt know what it was i asked for besides a name).
For those with a 2nd Gen Dodge, 37337 is a wheel cylinder for a 70s chevy - bigger bore than stock - more stopping power and is exactly the same except its slightly...
