After graduating from UCLA Extension I felt very scattered, and a bit lost in Los Angeles as I continued to seek my acting career, in 2016. I knew I needed to find a studio to be part of and practice the craft constantly. I audited so so so many studios around and found AMAW, which was the one that I was attracted to and intrigued by the most.
I have been studying so many technics whether in Brazil or here in LA and I was still not feeling I was improving as I believed I could.
The school helped me to regain my confidence because of the simplicity of the work they do. It is not easy, but it is very simple! All based on using the truth of who you are and what you are feeling in the moment applied to the script you have in hand. And, so... let the magic be revealed. There is so much I discovered about myself!
This is the safest school you can get. The staff and teachers are phenomenal and they will take care of you!
You will find lots of students shooting TV shows as well as working producers who partner with the school and build workshops where you can develop your professional skills and actually book work.
I love and recommend the school to anyone, whether you are pursuing an acting career, or just looking to develop your power of expression, so you can thrive in sales, public speaking, or any other area of your interest.

Read moreI want to be as fair as possible with my review. This experience was OK. I like the overall philosophy of the studio, and I really like Tony’s approach to acting, but the execution could be better. I took the foundations course to dip my toe into the field of acting after having done Improv and stand up in LA. Overall, the communication was good and the curriculum is sound I think what keeps me from giving it five stars is the professionalism aspect. For $500 I anticipated that our class time would be a little more focused, but instead it was a bit woo woo and lacking substance; it felt like life coaching and I guess I just struggle to see the value of that. We made a hard left turn at some point from learning technique into group therapy, trauma dumping. When I do something like this, I want to get reps in and receive solid feedback. I feel like that was pretty lacking here. Other people may find that this works really well for them, just wasn’t my cup of tea. YMMV. Other than that, the facilities were fine. Street parking is pretty easy to find. Staff was polite....
Read moreI feel so lucky to have become a part of this acting studio. I have been studying here for over a year now and going to Geri’s classes every week is one of my favorite things to do. I know I’ve grown so much as an actor in the time I’ve been here and I owe all of that to Geri, her talent as a teacher, her mind blowing intuition, and the unbelievably safe space she creates for her students to unstitch their emotional armor and explore those vulnerable places so delicately. If you decide to take the plunge and sign up for classes at AMAW, you won’t regret giving Geri’s class a try. I truly mean it when I say I would not be a tenth of the actor I am right now if it...
