I've been going to this new Burlington on Vine and Selma to price check some supplies in the home department. They have some office chairs that's really not worth the price. So I've been going to see if I can catch it when the price drops. I've also been checking their prices on pots and other cooking supplies. But as a black woman, I noticed for the past couple weeks that anytime I go in to the store , I'm being monitored. Also keep in mind that I've only been in there couple of Sundays for the past several weeks, not every day, and nor every Sunday. But today when I went back in to continue my price check, even though I had shown the loss prevention guy that I was coming in with bags cuz I had bought some things from a thrift store, I was still being constantly monitored like I was a criminal. As a black woman living in Hollywood for many years, I know what our reality is in Hollywood. And even if I were a criminal, I would not want to steal anything from any stores in Hollywood.
Long story short, when I called the manager to complain, she had the nerve to tell me over the phone that "I know, I'm a Hispanic person". As if to say everything is not racism. But she doesn't know what it's like to be in the black men's shoes....where you enter a store and you're being constantly monitor like you are a criminal even though you're doing nothing criminality. I was made to feel so uncomfortable, till at the end, when I was leaving, I decided to show my shopping bags and my handbag to the Lost prevention just so he see that I didn't steal anything. And while I was doing so... there was a worker in a blue jacket at the check stand who kept on giving me the side eye... like she needed to monitor me on my way out like I had stolen something from Burlington.
Though I was told by one of the workers that they do not have Black Friday sale, which is a lie. I still do not feel comfortable going in there on Black Friday, and in the future. The staff there needs to learn that just because you are black, it doesn't mean you are a criminal. Or, just because you are black coming in with shopping bags, it doesn't mean you're...
Read moreI was told i couldn't come into your store because of a computer system that racially profiled me. when asked why I wasn't able to enter the store, loss prevention stated, " I don't have to explain myself" with a smirk on his face while continuing to deny me access. My girlfriend was crying, begging to enter, it was cold, she needed a coat. He FINALLY agreed to radio the manager and it was at that ti.e they allowed us accress to enter the store, once in the store I was followed around by the manager adding to the embarrassment and frustration that was caused by your store and employees. When it came time to pay for my items, the cashier's working that night also displayed bad customer service by acting like we were invisible, just standing there waiting. It was like it was a joke. I wasn't even going to write a review, but this isn't the first time a burlington store has treated me with disrespect and un-professionalism, in my opinion, borderline racist. And yes the response back was polite but when your store is doing things that rise to that level of un-professionalism and hate. Some drastic changes need to happen. Yes I'm grateful for the apology 🙏 and all, but an apology next time and the time after that might be the reason why someone takes their life or the lives of other's. Let's not wait till that time comes burlington! Be different, set the standard, and trends so other stores will follow your model. And if that's not a thought, then I want shop there anymore and you might as well put a sign on the door that says burlington...
Read moreThis was a bad experience on opening weekend. There's no signage at the parking entrance of whether they do validation. There's also no signage on whether we entered the right place. When bed bath and beyond was the tenant, you could easily tell if you're at the right place or not. We enter and the parking system is confusing so we wasted $6. On top of that the security guy from the parking entrance side as soon as we enter the store was like "validation isn't working so you gotta pay if you wanna enter". So my dad just exited with the car and waited outside. There's a much much nicer way to say that instead of speaking as if this is the ghetto. No "sorry for the inconvenience" or nothing came out from his mouth. And then the restroom isn't working either. This is why testing before deployment is important folks. If you're gonna open a store 1) make sure you got people who have good customer exp 2) the restroom works 3) clear signage outside next to the parking rates that the validation isn't working so people can go park elsewhere. ($3 per 15 min is a lot). Is there a lot of stuff at the store? Yes but none of that matters if the parking system is complicated.
12/2024 edit: I see from recent reviews that customer service still is horrible. So much for taking feedback...
