PERCH IS LOCATED HERE & THIS IS WHAT THE REVIEW ENTAILS...
This is a gorgeous restaurant. Dining on 1 floor, with views if you make a reservation in advance & rooftop bar on another level. Rooftop bar is fabulous for a drink, even if you don't want to eat here. (You can eat up here too.) Just be aware that people are allowed to smoke up here & for awhile I was breathing someone's cigar smoke. I thought the drinks were pretty reasonably priced. Bottled beer only on the roof. (Some craft & other beers on tap in dining room). There's also a good deal of security present, so that's nice depending on how you look at it.
The dress code is typical Los Angeles. People were as casual as shorts & a sweatshirt to 3 piece suits. I would say that more people do dress for the place.
Parking on the street is non existent. The restaurant does offer Valet for a price. Recommend ride sharing.
Now to the restaurant. Like most DTLA places, it's packed & noisy. But not so bad that I couldn't hear my companion. My server did make excellent recommendations for dinner. The only thing is he prompted us to order sides. I asked was it only the protein then on the plate, ala carte? He said yes, so we ordered sides we didn't need to since there were vegetables on our dinner plates. Although the seasonal brussel sprouts were scrumptious. For the quality of the food, I found the pricing to be very fair. My friend's beef was amazingly tender & flavorful & my fish was tasty too.
There was a glitch with the after dinner drinks. I wish there had been full disclosure about pricing of alcohol. I kid you not, my friend's single malt was $65. So be aware of that if money is a consideration for you.
I think this is a great date place if you know the...
Read moreA 1920s Bldg. Restaurant Perch was good. Seabase is great fish, no fish smell; so the only thing that matters is how you cook the fish. And it was done okay. I also had something unusual, octopus for an appetizer. I have no benchmark from which to gauge how good the octopus was. Nonetheless, it was fine in my opinion. The inside restaurant is rustic while the outside patio is modern downtown viewing. There’s a small bar, a short staircase climb up from the restaurant to the observation deck. I imagine on the weekends this restaurant and rooftop are packed because the rooftop isn’t that large. But on a night like tonight, Monday, it was just the right kind of crowd, not too busy. Interestingly, I was able to pick out a swimming pool right in the middle of a downtown condominium high-rise - picture attached. And it was...
Read more2 minute read: Pershing Square Building was/is part of the old Los Ángeles Downtown area. However, around the time Huel Houser (RIP) did one of his “VISITING WITH HUEL HOUSER” segments, Huel found out many of those old Downtown buildings were arousing nenewed interest. That wasn’t that long ago but time did pass. Anyway, this building is CLASSIC. THE ARCHITECTURE isn’t matched by the newer skyscrapers on the West side of 5th Street. Whoever took responsibility,to revitalize this DOWNTOWN ICON, is to be commended for its renewed success. To enter, you are monitored for temperature and a mask. CDC GUIDELINES are strictly followed.the concierge, in the Lobby, is courteous, helpful and on the ball. Refer to my photos, to get a good idea of this I o Uc buildings American...
