The decor and concept of the restaurant are appealing, but I won’t be returning for sushi.
I’ve visited several sushi restaurants across various price ranges, and I had high expectations based on a friend's recommendation.
I dined here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration and was informed that we needed to order family-style due to our group size. This typically implies sharing a set menu, but we found that the prices were actually per person. Clearer communication on this would have been helpful.
If it was indeed priced per person, I would have expected each of us to receive a plate of each dish rather than sharing.
We got edamame and green beans for starters. They were good and flavorful. Salmon Carparcio was pretty good, and I would eat that again. The seaweed salad had vibrant colors but lacked seasoning and was missing salt.
Shishito peppers- they're a bit bland and needs improvement. Vegetable fried rice - it was tasty, but it was also moist. Our group was a bit confused since we read fried rice. It reminded us more of a risotto. The chicken karrage was good. The yuzu tartar was delicious. The best thing they had put out is the tuna crispy rice. I can eat more of that.
The rolls were disappointing. I just feel that they're weren't out of the ordinary. Out of all the rolls given to us, the best one was spicy tuna roll. The Golden Yuzu was beautiful with the gold flakes on top, but it did not suit my taste.
The menu included salmon and tuna nigiri. The rice was overally acidic and fish itself didn't seem fresh.
Dessert - It was chef's choice. We got a yuzu cheesecake and a bread pudding topped with ice cream. Both were 6/10 for me. A few of my friends liked the cheesecake, but the cheesecake was my least favorite
Presentation - I think the presentation/plating of the food was okay. Nothing too special. I just think for the name of the restaurant I was expecting more zing and pizzazz.
On a positive note, the drinks were well-crafted and balanced. The Tsuma I ordered was particularly impressive. Service was satisfactory overall, with attentive waitstaff and efficient plate clearing. However, there was a noticeable delay between dishes and at dessert.
I did not feel like I had to chase down someone for more water. The waiters were constantly picking up plates and cleaning in between. The front Host at the door was great. The waitress was always prompt and kind.
Parking - The restaurant recommended the valet parking. $14, which is okay. The service I got from the valet people was mediocre. The valet staff didn’t greet us properly, and one valet even caused damage to a valet sign while returning a car, showing a lack of professionalism. One of the valet guys brought my friend's car back by making a wide U-turn and actually hit one of the valet signs. Right in front of us!! We were stunned and was vocal about it. We were very annoyed about How the driver was trying to play it off. He said it was all good. NOT GOOD AT ALL. He did Not even apologize for it or even act sorry. Ridiculous.
I would park across the street next...

Read moreI came here for my birthday dinner! I had never heard of this place before. It's right next door to the Perch in Los AngeParking - street parking available if you're lucky, otherwise, I used valet. It was $15 for valet and they have an app where you can request your car about 10 min prior to you leaving. The restaurant seats you once your entire party is there. You can wait at the cute bar they have and order a drink while you wait. The decor inside is stunning! We were lucky at got to sit right under the fish tank. Service was OK. Everyone was friendly for the most part, but I did have them box my food and didn't end up receiving it when l left, they threw it away. I was very upset about that. Otherwise, it was a good experience. They let us bring in a cake from outside for my birthday. It's definitely worth a shot if you're in the area.
