My husband and I came for the Indian journey during our honeymoon. Overall, we felt that there was a luxury price tag at this spa, with a less than luxury experience. One of the greatest disappointments was the lack of amenities overall. I recognize that it is the COVID pandemic, but we have friends who went to the neighbouring spa next door at the Grand Wailea and still received chocolates, beverages and snacks. Nothing was provided at the Mandara spa except 1 water bottle. With the amount of services that we purchased, we were at the spa for half the day and it would have been nice to have at least some snacks and tea. We were starving by the time we left. The relaxation lounge was pretty basic without any views. Treatment rooms do have great views but given that you are mostly lying on the table, you do not really see the view anyway.
Of note, the 20% service charge was not disclosed prior to the services at any point. I understand that it is common practice and "luxury spa experience" but this should be disclosed at the time of booking. I also disagree with the practice of a standard service charge and would prefer to be able to give my own tip based on the level of service received. A blanket 20% charge is not reflective of the services provided given that some of them were very expensive despite being haphazard and some took only a few minutes.
We would also have to echo frustrations of below commenter with regards to the difficulties of scheduling with this place. They mixed up our appointment date and mistook my husband's name for similar sounding name. Also not possible to book online or via e-mail which is an inconvenience in this day and age.
The fire and ice massage was just OK. The "ice" component was pretty subtle. We really enjoyed the facial due to getting a nice head massage, and good results with smooth skin after. The bell experience was probably my favourite, and was a super relaxing meditative and unique experience. I cannot recommend the myofascial release or the lime & ginger scrub, as myofascial release was just someone rolling over all your muscles with a rolling pin and we did not really find there was any benefit to it. For the scrub, they pretty much told my husband to take the scrub out of the pot and scrub himself. Neither were worth the price.
Overall, I would probably not return to this spa again even if staying at the Wailea Beach Resort and would instead opt to go to a different spa at one of the other nearby resorts as we heard better experiences from our friends and there are so many choices in Maui. I don't mind paying luxury prices for an actual luxury experience that is worth it, but this was unfortunately not it. I think all the reviews below are generally reflective of this as well, so make sure you read the reviews before you go. I chose to ignore them when we booked with this spa just due to the convenience of location being the same resort that we were staying at, and thinking the reviewers are probably exaggerating but now regretting that choice. Although we did leave feeling relaxed, the services are not good value for the price and I suspect you can get a better experience at other similarly priced spas...

This was one of the worst massages my husband and I have ever received, and definitely the worst by far for a âluxuryâ spa. I have had probably 40-50 massages, Iâm a regular and often leave massages in a âzenâ or meditative state. Unfortunately that was not the case here, during this massage I was extremely uncomfortable and my husband and I both said we wished we would have gotten up and left during the massage. The âtechniqueâ they used was horrible or they just had no idea what they were doing. It breaks my heart to write about a persons profession in this way.. but we neither left relaxed or rejuvenated. We did leave with a $600 bill for a service we wouldnât return to even if it were $50. The massage was even painful at sometimes as they massaged over my bones, applied pressure in uncomfortable places like the front of my ankles, shook my body and applied still pressure in places that did absolutely nothing for me. We are on our honeymoon and have been looking forward to the massage for the entire trip⌠HUGE letdown.
In additional disappointment, we showed up 45 minutes early to enjoy the âamenitiesâ, which were hardly amenities. The steam room was not on and did not get hot and other than that all that was available was a ârelaxation roomâ with lounge chairs & refreshments and showers⌠Iâve been to spas half the price with better amenities than this one.
I have always had no problem paying premium for exceptional experiences, but this was not that. In addition, there was an automatic 20% service charge for gratuity. As someone who worked in service, I am all for tipping⌠however it should be based on service and in this case, the service was...
Read moreToday, I had the most exceptional deep tissue massage at Mandara Spa in Maui, all thanks to the amazing massage therapist, Mike. I have visited numerous spas over the years, but my experience at Mandara Spa stands out, largely due to Mike's extraordinary skills and expertise. From the moment I arrived, the calming atmosphere and welcoming staff set the stage for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. However, it was Mike's masterful touch and the powerful energy he exuded during the deep tissue massage that made this visit truly unforgettable. I'm still feeling the positive effects of the amazing connection we shared throughout the session. Mike's deep tissue massage technique was both effective and precise, targeting all the right spots while ensuring I remained comfortable. His intuition and knowledge of the human body allowed him to address my specific needs, leaving me feeling deeply relaxed and revitalized. In addition to his incredible massage skills, Mike also shared his inspiring knowledge of sound therapy. Though we didn't incorporate sound therapy into the session, his passion and understanding of the subject left a lasting impression on me. I appreciated the opportunity to learn from him, and his insights added an extra layer of depth to the overall experience. If you are looking for an outstanding deep tissue massage and a knowledgeable therapist in Maui, I cannot recommend Mandara Spa and Mike highly enough. He is, without a doubt, the best massage therapist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I encourage anyone who values exceptional service, skill, and expertise to book a...
