My sister gifted me one of their 2 hour classes for my birthday, and we went early September. The class was nice, ignited some pottery sparks for sure! If youâre looking to pass the time with music or get your feet wet, this place is for you! If youâre looking for an immersive learning experience and to come home with pieces, this is not for you.
We still have yet to get our pieces back and itâs now almost two months later since we took the class. I think itâs because they are busting so many classes each day - which is great since itâs popular, but you have to go into it knowing it may be a long while because of the back log.
Also, the âteacherâ had some really good tips to get you started, but if you had more questions or wanted more help - he did not provide it and it felt as if they were brushed off or low priority.
Itâs a very independent class and maybe thatâs the vibe! It was enjoyable and like I said, it got me into pottery and wheel throwing - but Iâm looking at other places for workshops, not here.
Itâs a great intro if you donât have a lot of pottery expectations.

Updated: Since my review, the team reached out and let us know our pottery was ready for pick up.
Pick up process is definitely not organized and the poor staff there obviously donât know how to locate things outside of the bags. We only had 3/4 pieces and they had no idea where the 4th was.
But to be honest, we had already given up at this point - 2 months later post class. We were already disheartened after all this time, so the missing piece and the âcandlestick holderâ, which is now a distorted sad tiny plate, was not surprising.
I donât like to leave bad-ish reviews as you can see from my review history, but I feel itâs necessary OCISLY to use this feedback to create a more thoughtful, organized, and impactful community experience. Itâs a shame since the concept is great, just the execution...
Read moreA super rare gem in Miami! This is a true âmom and popâ business, you must understand that to enjoy it fully. You see that the owners pour their heart into what they do. Read the email from eventbrite before the event or even on the website itself where you buy your tickets and you will find every piece of detailed information about the event + process. You will park then enter and wait in the backyard. As promised in the email, one of the owners will come out 10 min prior and give a good waiting period for people who run late (theyâre almost too nice about waiting for people)!
The event is very relaxed, itâs a beginners class and you are given 3 clear steps and full supervision the entire time but itâs meant for you to enjoy and get your hands dirty! Successful or not itâs very fun to check off your bucket list. 100% would go back. The owner was funny, sweet and so helpful, she goes above and beyond!
You will wait a few weeks until they email you again for the pickup process but Iâm sure with their dedication and clearness in the emails it will be a smooth process.
BYOB but youâll be so into your pottery making you probably will forget to drink. They have free water sparkling available.
They give you 3 pieces of clay, 3 attempts to build pieces- we had more than enough time to do this and you never felt rushed or pressured.
NOTHING LIKE THIS EXISTS IN MIAMI! You must go...
Read moreEveryone should try going to an OCISLY ceramics events, even if you think you are not artistic! At the very least, I promise you will meet new friends and enjoy a night contributing to Miamiâs beautiful art community. Cristina is so patient explaining how pottery works and encourages you to be playful with what you create. Adam is also very helpful offering any advice, together they make a great team. The attention to detail does not go unnoticed, and they make everyone feel welcomed (this is very important because I understand it can be scary/intimidating to try new things! they put any fears to ease)
Luckily I had the opportunity to glaze a few of my pieces, which is worth the money! I was so pleasantly surprised how quickly my pottery was fired, considering how long the process can take from start to finish. I have been to multiple OCISLY events, but one of my favorite memories was crafting matching swan coffee mugs with my partner. It was so fun to do side-by-side while surrounded by creative energy and good vibes. We cherish these mugs and pull them out often smiling at the subtle unique imperfections that make each one beautiful. Thank you to OCISLY for an amazing memory that will last for years & years. We look forward to many...
