I ordered a new washer and dryer with installation. They told me it was backordered and would take about 1 month to come in. 3 weeks later I get a call from them saying that the manufacturer discontinued the models I bought and it would take another 1 month for the new models to come in and be installed, so now we're 2 months out.
When they finally came in, the installers showed up and when they looked at the valve for my washer, they said it needed to be replaced. It worked perfectly fine but they said they couldn't install my washer unless they replaced it and it would cost me $200. I agreed because I had no choice.
In order to replace the washer valve, they had to shut the main water valve off from inside the house. When they were done, they went to turn back on the main water valve only to find that it wouldn't move at all, which meant my house wouldn't have water. I immediately tried calling plumbers and luckily, one was available and in my area. When the installers heard that a plumber was on the way, they left quickly without even giving me a receipt for the work they did replacing the washer valve.
The main water valve was in perfect working condition before the installers touched it, I had a new dishwasher installed 3 weeks before and the valve was working fine. When the plumber replaced the main water valve - he had to cut it off - he was able to see that the problem was that the installers had cranked the valve too much when they turned the water off. It cost a total of $813.26 to replace the main water valve.
I called Home Depot after the plumber left and they had me file a claim for the damages done by the installer. They had me send pictures, receipts for the plumbing work and an explanation. 3 weeks go by and the the company that handles claims for Home Depot - USPack - contacted me back and said that they were NOT covering my claim. I later found out from the plumber that the water valve that the installers replaced needed to be done by a licensed plumber, which the installers weren't.
So the Home Depot took 2 months to install my washer, had unlicensed installers come to my house and do plumbing work, they break my main water valve which ends up costing me over $1000 including the washer valve replacement that DIDN'T need to be replaced to begin with, and they denied my claim for damages.
I will never shop Home Depot again and I would suggest anyone who made it through this review to do the same. They do not back up the work or mistakes of their installers, even for a cut and dry claim like this. The reason they denied the claim was because they said they couldn't prove the installers broke it. The valve was working before they touched it, they touched it and it broke, the plumber confirmed it was broken from someone tightening it too much, but they couldn't prove the installers broke it. This is the poor service that Home Depot provides...
Read moreToday, I felt inspired to tackle a DIY project, something Home Depot often encourages its customers to do. At work, I noticed someone had reinforced the beams by adding heavy-duty drywall. Unsure of the exact materials used and recognizing my lack of expertise, I decided to seek advice from the professionals at Home Depot. Specifically, I needed guidance on bridging the beams in my condo, as they're positioned unusually, throwing off the symmetry of my TV setup.
I drove to Home Depot and upon arrival, I approached a friendly young lady to inquire about where I could find someone knowledgeable about lumber. She directed me to a helpful gentleman in the lumber department. I explained my need for assistance with my project, requesting to speak with a professional from the department. He made an effort to summon someone, and I patiently waited, perusing the aisles.
After 15 minutes passed with no assistance in sight, I asked the young man if anyone was coming. He seemed unsure and made another announcement. Another 10 minutes elapsed without any help arriving. Frustrated, I approached an older lady nearby, who also attempted to page someone. However, after another 10 minutes of waiting, I lost patience.
Although I still intend to proceed with my project, I've lost confidence in this particular Home Depot. It seems geared towards professional contractors and seasoned DIYers. For newcomers like myself, finding assistance is nearly impossible. This experience reminded me of a previous encounter where an older gentleman, when asked about cabinets, merely pointed me to a brochure instead of engaging in conversation. At that point, I realized I might as well have searched online.
In summary, the Home Depot located at 1200 Nixon Dr, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054, is not conducive to the needs of first-time DIYers or those seeking renovation assistance. It appears to cater more towards experienced professionals who require minimal guidance. I miss the personalized customer service of mom-and-pop hardware stores, where you receive individual attention and expertise. It's becoming evident that Home Depot prioritizes merchandise over service. As I wander through the store, I rarely encounter knowledgeable associates, and those I do come across seem inexperienced and unsure.
This lack of seasoned staff may stem from Home Depot's preference for cheaper, less experienced labor over seasoned workers. Unfortunately, this approach leaves customers like myself, who are embarking on home improvement projects, feeling neglected and frustrated. It's time for me to explore other options, and perhaps Lowe's will provide a more...
Read moreIf you value your time, money and sanity, don’t walk, RUN AWAY from this business. No deal is worth enduring the aggravation of dealing with these folks. Completely unprofessional and total lack of accountability. We ordered a new appliance package with delivery for 7/8. We made arrangements so the dishwasher service was cut off by an electrician 7/5, cars were moved from the driveway, our toddler was out of the home, our cats safely out of the way and my husband was off from work, they (USPack Home, the company Home Depot employs for their deliveries and installations) an hour before the delivery window to let us know one of their workers called and they’d be unable to delivery that day. After waiting on hold, we were told they’d be able to do the next day and have us a new time window. We understand things happen and people get sick, so we cancelled our plans for Saturday and again rearranged everything for delivery. Rinse and repeat. They left a voicemail this time during the delivery window that the driver called out and again. After waiting on hold (as caller number 1, what a joke) for a crazy amount of time we were then told things were now pushed to Tuesday. Unable to miss work, we had my father-in-law drive down and take off to wait at our home and (again) rearranged our lives and schedules for this supposed delivery. The delivery window came and went with no appliances. We had to contact them. The delivery service didn’t even bother to notify us they wouldn’t be coming. We had to wait on hold again with the delivery service (who we couldn’t even get through to speak with) and Home Depot. This time, they told us one of our appliances hadn’t even arrived until today (not sure where the total lack of communication was that they couldn’t figure that out until this point). I can’t tell you the amount of time wasted getting transferred about from person-to-person in the Home Depot customer service and don’t even bother trying to reach the delivery service. You’ll wait on hold for ages and still never get through. Told today they’d do tomorrow 7-11. We were unable to rearrange thing (again) for this time. They told us we’d then have to wait until the 22nd. Unacceptable. We put our lives on hold over and over again and then have to wait that long. We were considering getting our kitchen completely redone with them, but after this experience I wouldn’t even trust them to stop in for a lightbulb. I don’t usually write reviews, but if I can spare someone else the aggravation, it’ll be worth the time. Stay away and find another company...
