I would like to start by stating I have used VRBO many times in the past with great success. In fact, this is the first time I have been disappointed. My wife, mother, and I all decided to visit Nashville for a week. After reviewing the different VRBOâs, we decided on 11 North as our dream vacation stay. The property was promoted as 5 star accommodations centrally located in the center of Nashville. The ad included several pictures of the property and the unit. While the price was very high $350 to $430 per night during our stay, it appeared to be well worth it. When we arrived at 11 North we found ourselves in an industrial area surrounded by huge storage yards, barbed wire, chain linked fences, old rusted out cars, and abandoned properties. To make matters worse, the property is on a busy street on one side and a highly active railroad on the other. There were large dump trucks and semi-trucks that run all day and all night. The trains seem to come every 30 minutes and never ended. As for the center of town, what a lie. It was at least a 1 mile walk up steep hills and through an extremely unsafe industrial area. These are apartments, not condominiums and the tenants where shady at best. The key supplied would not open the door and it took all my strength to just enter the unit. Once inside, it smelled of smoke and did not have televisions in any of the bedrooms. Further, the bedrooms and beds were much smaller than described. We immediately contacted the company and requested to be moved. I spoke to Debbie, this kind hearted girl working the weekend shift. She could do nothing without manager approval. I told her that we have had enough and we went to a hotel. There was no way on Godâs green earth I was going to stay at the dangerous dump called 11 North. The next day, I called around noon since I had not heard from anyone as promised. I explained my situation and the manager explained that I am just out of luck and had to stay in the ghetto or not, but they would only refund $100.00 of the $2,100 I paid. She went on to explain that I would need to sue them if I wanted my money back. Somehow, I knew an outfit like Stay Alfred would have such a policy. They obviously take your money, based on false promises, and then refuse a refund. THIS IS THE COMPANY SCAM WE ALL DREAD WHEN BOOKING A VRBO. Long story short, my loss is your gain. NEVER book anything Stay Alfred offers. Photos available...
Read moreOn the whole, this is a good apartment. A few things I didn't enjoy though are: -The appliances seemed cheap (dishwasher cleaned poorly garbage disposal and washer needed maintanence, etc.). -I could hear the train from my apartment. Wasn't a huge disturbance daily, but trains would occasionally horn and sometimes the brakings were louder than others. -Standard sounds of apartment living, but definitely could hear neighbors in the hallways. -Construction was constant the last 6 months or so. They very well could be finishing, but this was a HUGE disruption to overall quietnees and parking availibility. It was constant painting outside, pressure washing, changing the carpet; just non-stop for 6 months. -I believe my apartment was poorly insulated. It was really hard to cool my apartment during the summer and made my electric bill high. (note: I was on the top floor). -The jacuzzi was frequently yukky and had mold and debris. -Everyone I personally talked to (including myself) had a rent raise when it came to renewal. Made no sense to me, especially since new residents were being offered a move-in discount.
Pros: -Can't beat the location. (Great for walking, Publix, street parking) -Management was good, and responsive. -Relatively affordable for the gultch (disappointed in the rent raise, but still cheaper than most apartments in the area). -They did not nit-pick my deposit. I left the apartment in good shape at move-out, but I know some complexes will try to nickel and dime in order to forfeit your security deposit (which 11 N did not do). -Young, friendly residents. It's a very transiet apartment, but people here were mainly good neighbors. -Ammenities such as the community rooms were nice for hosting friends.
I recommend this apartment if you are trying to live in the downtown area on a budget and can overlook some occasional...
Read moreThis apartment complex is extremely disorganized, dismissive, and oblivious to the fact that these apartments are people's homes. When I first moved in, it took almost a month for me to be added to the resident portal and when I finally reached out for the final time, the apartment had been in the eviction process since the leasing office had failed to process paperwork properly when I subleased (had to sign one form). This was in November. A month ago (late February), my roommate in a two-person apartment moved out without notice, stopped paying rent and would not respond to the leasing office or myself. Several times I reached out to ask the status of the apartment and find out if there was anything I could do. Most of the time, I did not receive a reply or it would be the same thing that I am on the lease so if the other half wasn't paid, even though I did not make enough of an income to qualify on my own, we would both be responsible. This is was I expected however a civil process server delivered a detainer warrant only for the roommate, and the apartment complex's attorney's office would not speak a word to me about the court date that has come and gone. When I reached out to find out the status of the apartment again, the leasing office had no words to me and just basically said "idk what to tell ya keep calling the attorney even though the contract we turned in does not have you on the lease." Two days later, the same civil process server returned with a document that had my name added to it - almost two weeks after the court date for my roommate had passed. The leasing office has absolutely no idea what they are doing, will blindside and lie to tenants, and treats someone's home and financial future as a joke or meaningless but at least they host...
