A-Z Rental seemed great at first. Patricia was responsive and receptive to our needs. When we visited the business, there were cleaners outside using a power wash on several chairs. We thought that to be a good sign.
We booked their services for our FIRST baby shower. We had planned for months, purchasing thousands of dollars in food, drink, and Knick knacks for our guests. Patricia even told us that they were familiar with our venue because they had delivered to that address before. That made us feel comfortable with A-Z.
One thing that I regret not paying attention to was that the business was not open on weekends. There should be a service line to deal with concerned clients and customers in case of an emergency. We learned this the hard way.
We received no call or notifications on the date of our baby shower (Saturday 10/14). I did not worry at first because Patricia sent an invoice and gave us a two hour window for delivery. Our window was from 4:30-6:30 pm. At 5:30 it was crunch time and the delivery still was not at our venue. At 6 pm I got worried because technically our baby shower had already started. At 6:05 pm we saw the A-Z rental truck bumbling down the street. There were two delivery guys. They didn't say a word to me or any of our guests. I wasn't worried about that because I was relieved they had arrived. Much to my chagrin, we were in for a rude awakening. The 2 delivery guys couldn't open the damn truck! They either packed it too high or something fell on a pulley. They certainly packed it incorrectly. They tried for at least an hour to open the damn truck. I felt like I was in a damn Seinfeld episode.
While the two geniuses tried opening the truck, precious time was wasted and dozens of guests began to arrive. (I've included video) Imagine people, many of whom have traveled from as far as Maryland having to stand around with no place to sit. Embarrassing!
To add insult to injury, Patricia did not call me. It's now Monday evening and she still hasn't called me since this nightmare. I had to ask one of the movers to call her after 45 minutes of them trying to open the truck. When I got her on the phone, there was no remorse, or empathy. Totally unprofessional. She said the best thing they could do is have the delivery guys travel back to the warehouse, load up a new truck and bring the tables and chairs. She said it would take an hour. It was already 7 pm at that point. We were in Bushwick and the warehouse was in Sunset Park. Luckily my father was able to get tables and chairs from another location. The movers showed up at our venue at 8:35 pm. Our shower was from 6-11 pm. It would take them at least an hour to lay out 15 tables and 95 chairs. I sent them away smh. Complete waste of time. Of course they showed up on the tail end of the window (6:05), the event started at 6. Apparently everything was placed completely wrong in the truck, because of that the two drivers were unable to open the door to get the tables and chairs out.
They tried some of the most ridiculous tactics that were clearly not going to make the door open. They did this repeatedly, all the while just wasting time. It became obvious that when they packed the truck they stacked everything too high, causing something to be lodged in the doorway. Needless to say, not having tables and chairs can literally RUIN an event.
The drivers were unapologetic & on the phone with someone named Patricia (I saw his phone screen) who was giving no solution to what was going on. We were eventually told that the best they could do was go back to the warehouse and load up a whole new truck. At this point it was after 7pm and a great majority of our guests had arrived. It was obviously embarrassing for us because we'd put so much time and money into making sure that everything ran smoothly for the baby shower. No amount of preparation could prepare us for these two geniuses not know how to load a truck properly.
The company showed no regard for the fact that we had to venture out to get random chairs and table from other places in the meantime. All of this happening in front of our guests by the way. By the time the drivers actually returned with a new truck it was almost 9PM.
They arrived as nonchalant as they had previously. This was clearly because whoever was in charge did not see the urgency in rectifying the situation and in turn neither did the drivers.

Read moreI had rented from them before and everything came in on time pick up and delivery so I did not hesitate to call them again for my baby shower. the delivery was on time but the pick up was HORRIBLE. I was given a pick up time of between 12 and 2pm which was fine but at 945am I was called to see if they could get the chairs. unfortunately I had to say no cause I was nowhere near my venue and there was my big mistake. I get a call from the driver at 145pm saying that he was in heavy traffic and that he would not be to my place till 320pm. I had no choice but to say ok. So 320pm comes and goes and so I call him again he tells me that he was in an accident on the FDR and that he would have a friend or co worker come and pick up the chairs that was at 330pm. I told him that this was very unprofessional and that I needed him to contact his friend and to call me back within 5 minutes to let me know what was going on. He called me back and told me that someone would be there in 30 minutes. I told him that someone better be here by then or he would find the chairs outside. At this time I was beyond frustrated and actually gave up I left the venue at 4pm. I did not hear from anyone till 442pm telling me that he was outside and waiting for me to open the door. i told him to hold on and actually had a family member come and open the door.
