I was in NYC for work, and had been there for DAYS without a decent cup of coffee. During a lunch break at the conference, I googled coffee shops nearby. This one was not only the closest, but I tell it was smaller and tucked away. Those are almost ALWAYS the best quality places. The barista was also the owner. He asked me how I made my coffee at home, and whipped up a latte for me based on my preferences. He told me how he roasts his own beans & personally oversees the ingredients he uses. Walking back to the conference, I took a sip & stopped mid-step and uttered an expletive because it was just THAT GOOD. Served at perfect drinking temperature, it tasted like autumn joy and happiness. I went there once more before the conference ended, and I was sad I couldn't bring it...
Read moreLet's separate the sheep from the goats right now: this place is a goat. The Jolly Goat is a small coffee shop with barely any seating. The barista starts out by telling me that there a lot of not so great coffee shops in town and then proceeds to serve me not so great coffee. It tasted slightly acidic and was very weak. I'm not sure if their coffee is representative of the rest of their menu items. The pluses are that the staff is kind of friendly, the unique goat theme, and there are a few local magazines inside available for your perusal. Although we understand the business does not open till 8 however between 7:50-8.59am 7 customers tried to come have a cup of coffee and the workers just unfortunately didn’t care. Which lead to all the customers going to Sullivan street bakery. So my advice to anyone who needs a coffee before they head to work or in the office from Home go to Sullivan they are next door they are open bright and early and have just as good if not many...
