I've been here a few times with my four year old son, and we each get haircuts at the same time. It's been fine-- good enough but not great. Today, I asked the man who is always there to give my son a short regular haircut. As I got my hair cut by one of the ladies who is often there too, I at one point asked if he could please make it a little shorter. As he neared being done, I again politely asked if he could make it a little shorter and more gradual in the back-- it looked odd and my son's hair grows quickly. I was not rude about it. He had had another customer just sit down to wait for a haircut, so it may be he wanted to finish quickly to get to that man. Either way, he had not spent much time on my son, I do not think I was being rude at all, and my request seemed reasonable/normal. He was very rude in response. I asked him why he was being rude, and he really lost it, telling us to never return, and that he'd been cutting hair for twenty years and knew how to give a boy's haircut. The other barber finished both our cuts. I could have handled it better too -- I should have just let his initial rudeness go without remark--but it was an absurd experience. As he cut the next man's hair and mine was being finished, he loudly asked the man if the length was ok. The man thought about it for a moment and said yes, and the barber then loudly said this was how the back and forth should be for a haircut. I agree-- but he never once asked me if the length was...
Read moreDecided to step in on account of the $18 haircut sign outside. The Jewish gentleman who I assume was the owner did not greet me upon stepping in only made eye contact and put on a sour face since a gentleman followed behind me who I assume is a regular and I just must be slowing things down for his regular client walk-ins. My assumption was right considering he only glanced at my photo from my phone and ignored my requests to see my other pictures of my desired haircut which was a simple style. He spent approximately 4 minutes on my haircut which my usual barber spends a total of 23 minutes. Not to mention instead of moving the clipper cord with his hand he repeatedly whipped it back and forth over my head with it crashing down on my torso. I am a laid back individual who had a long day so I decided to not make any comments and just make my way out leaving no tip. He also spent a literal 12 seconds with his scissors pretending to clip just so I presume he could up charge an additional $2. The low price is what you get as I walked out astounded at the poor customer service and crooked hack job. Avoid this establishment if your hair is ever to be seen by anyone but family and close friends because you will regret ever stopping by this bait and...
Read moreConsistently the worst haircut and customer experience at a barber I have ever had. Never going back, unfortunately. I have been going here for almost 2 decades, it is confirmed, though, this place is a scam. Here's what happened the last time my girlfriend went: She knew that a blow dry was a separate charge, and therefore asked for the "regular" cut (which is advertised outside for $18). She was told during the haircut that "women are not regular" and no one should expect a women's cut to be that cheap in the first place, and after making clear she did not want the blow dry at all, or shampoo service, she was still asked to pay an additional charge.
Maybe if the women's cut is not $18 then it shouldn't be advertised as such in the window, and when I asked about it ahead of time I should have gotten a straight answer before the haircut began. When it was time to pay, the manager rudely argued with her, ultimately requested that she leave her phone there and go to an ATM. Classic bait and switch, if you are going to scam people into haircuts they didn't ask for, you would think at least you would do so in a polite manner.
Gonna try that place Solomon's by Columbus maybe next...
