I want to start by saying Famous Famiglia has delicious food and they are my go-to place for calzone. Having said that, my low rating is not attributed to the food. The service that I received at the 96th and Amsterdam location is the reason that i left the restaurant feeling like this matter needed to be addressed. I walked in and went straight to the register. I always do this because my calzone order has specific toppings/ingredients. The gentleman at the cash register asked me what i wanted. I explained that I was placing an order. He immediately instructed me to go tell the boys on the serving line my order. I told him that i was placing my order with him and he interjected without letting me finish and again told me to place my order with the boys on the serving line. Again i tried to explain and he became agitated and asked if i was ordering a whole pizza and i told him i was ordering a calzone, he said "dile a los muchachos" (tell the boys). I went to the serving line and I began explaining my order and they immediately told me that they only serve pre-made calzones and a specific ingredient calzone had to be ordered at the register. What i found most distasteful was 1) the manner in which dismissed me to the serving line without giving me a chance to speak 2) he spoke in a contemptuous tone, as if it bothered him to take my order 3) he actually became argumentative and blamed me for the confusion because I never gave him my order (never mind that he didn't allow me give him my order. I believe that this employee should receive addition training in the customer service experience or work in a position where he does not interact with customers. Yo fui criado en tamaulipas y no tengo problema con mis paisanos ni con otros hispanos. I say this to show that the entire experience was driven by the one employee's attitude towards...

I love it when a bad experience turns into a good one.
We walked past this pizzeria earlier and the scent of the sauce was calling us in. However, we were on our way to review a steakhouse up the block. This was a scheduled review at the steakhouse, and after over 15 minutes waiting for a server to speak to us, we walked out.
We were so hungry, and instantly remembered the pizza place we walked past earlier. We were speed walking to get there, and were surprisingly impressed! How nice it was to walk through the door and be greeted by a warm, "Hello" from the staff behind the counter.
When it comes to pizza there is the crust, the sauce and the cheese (in that order for me). If the crust fails on a pizza, it is like a bad foundation on a house - no good.
This crust was warm, golden, airy, and just the right thickness. When I made the classic pizza fold, I heard the the crunch go straight down the middle. The sauce was classic marinara, lightly seasoned with a ripe summer tomato taste. The cheese was portioned nicely, then when I asked for ground meat topping, my mouth was doing the happy dance as I saw them slather the meat on the slice. No skimping here!
Great dough goes a long way in a pizza parlor. The Stromboli crust was unusually light and crisp. This Stromboli was stuffed with an assortment of Italian meats, sauteed onions, cheese, and seasonings. We dipped it in a side of the marinara sauce and devoured it.
Finally garlic knots!!!! I found that they could have been taken out of the over just a little bit sooner, but the soft chopped garlic on them made them a winner as well.
This place was busy with deliveries going out the door, and people grabbing take out. Seems like all the locals know exactly where to go for their pizza.
We thought we were heading out for steaks. Instead we stumbled on the best little pizza parlor on the...
Read moreVery rude and poor customer service! Sent them an order using Seamless and I included Delivering instructions saying that I cannot go downstairs because I have a toddler with me and when the delivery guy got here he was calling me asking me to come downstairs when I told him about the note that I added with my Order he still insisted for me to come downstairs. I called the pizzeria and told him about the situation, and about the note that I’ve added with my order specifically telling them I cannot come downstairs. Their explanation was that one of the delivery guys got physically attacked during a delivery and while I understand that then why take payment for an order when the customer is telling you that they cannot come downstairs to receive the delivery? I should’ve received a phone call with an explanation letting me know (ahead of time) that the only way I will receive my food delivery is if I go downstairs in which case I would have Canceled the order and I Both of us would have not wasted our time. When I called the restaurant the person who picked up the phone was very rude, and did not understand where I was coming from. Overall, bad customer service! Yes, your delivery staff’s Safety comes first, but why take an order when im telling you that the only way i will receive it is If you deliver by my front door especially after I’ve paid for a tip? Why not read And completely disregard the customers instructions? Please don’t order from this location. I’ve ordered from other Famiglia’s And they are not as rude as...
