I had the most unprofessional experience in my housing search in NYC yet with Gaby this past week. She demanded a "good faith deposit" with my application to take the unit off the market -- with the supposed understanding that just as I would not apply elsewhere, no one else would be considered for the apartment. She pushed an aggressive move-in date of a week away, told me I had been approved, and asked me to come to her office to finalize my paperwork -- signing lease riders and other acknowledgements. Everything but the lease was signed, since we were waiting for management, but she assured me there was nothing to worry about and I should go ahead hiring movers and canceling my sublet for the following week.
After a lot of texts to Gaby with less than 5 days to the move, she told me the apartment had instead gone to someone else in the building and there was nothing she could do. She had known through the day that this was happening, as she kept telling me not to worry and encouraged me to hire movers.
I am back to square one, with no housing for next week and stuck with a hefty movers cancellation fee. She says there is nothing she can do if the landlord decides to rent the unit to someone else. I do not think she should be demanding a probably illegal 1 month good faith deposits with an application if she can't guarantee her end of the deal -- it's a waste of people's time and money, and a violation of a good faith agreement. I bet she will be back renting units for the same landlord within the week, which just reinforces her lack of professionalism and bad ethics.

They are the same company that use a âgood faith depositâ and claim its used to take the property off the market while they review YOUR APPLICATION ONLY and will refund it in 48-72 hours if you donât qualify. ITS A LIE. Even if you qualify, they review other applications and give it to whoever qualified first. They only refund your money when youâre about to use legal action. Donât be fooled the âwomen ledâ appeal. This agency is one of the best examples why brokers have a...
Read moreI inquired into an apartment located in Woodhaven/Ozone Park. I got a quick response from YESWIN CHINTA. In her response she asked some basic questions which I answered. To make matters worse, she didn't answer any of the questions I asked. Then after I responded back to that email, I got ghosted. Being a voucher holder which, was more than the apartment rental, I know the rules and, my rights and, the responsibilities of landlords/brokers. I will be reporting to NYC Commission on Human Rights. If they say I didn't respond or, spin things back on me, I have all the corresponding...
